Dillon 650 vs non-Dillon Dies
« on: July 06, 2010, 12:35:34 AM »
Has anyone had a problem with other brands of dies? I've been using RCBS dies and just recently tried to install them in my new 650 but I can't get them to screw down far enough to get a full length resize. I'm using Short Base if that makes a difference. And a few rounds in I managed to break a decap pin so I'm out of service until I get more.

Is it worth my time just to get Dillons? I'm guessing they're a bit longer? Or cut differently?

A set of Lee dies I use are too short to use the nut on top. So, I just put the nut on the bottom. Works fine. Think outside the box. ;)

I don't like Dillon dies much.

That's brilliant!

I'll give it a shot when I get some new decapping pins. Thanks.

Or you can get the thin nuts, on my Lee dies I just flipped the jam nut upside down so the grove for the rubber ring is at 1200, same concept as the thin nuts.
