What do you use Ammo cans for besides storing your ammo.
Use them to store tire chains, small tool box for behind the seat,
food storage, metal tent stakes, what are some of your usages..

Good topic Nomad

I use one to store my black powder stuff.  (not the powder)  Lube stays good etc.  They also make a good storage for important papers.  Not fireproof, but water proof is as important.

I use one for my gun parts and tools.  They make a good tray system for the .50 cal cans.

They make pretty good water tight and easily accessible storage for cameras and what not on river trips.

I'm going to weld a couple fat .50s to each side of the tongue on my ATV trailer for holding tie-downs and rope and whatnot.

With a 50 cal box make a portable stove.
A cook stove drill 3/16 holes across the top then put stainless rods
threw the holes this would be about 2/3 down the top seam 1/2 "off of the top.
This would allow you to cook with a pan or pot.......
With a 2" hole saw cut a hole in one end to put small pieces of wood in
for a fast fire to heat water or heat a meal...
In the bottom drill some 1/2" holes so that the stove can draw do this
on both sides after cooking put the stainless rod in the ammo can
put lid on when cool good to go.......

Nomad,

Good thought!  Just for my clarification - are the ss rods for holding the pot?  I would like to see your idea and may have to build one myself.

+1 for primers.
On the bottom shelf of the cabinet in the basement. Last place in the house to catch fire and the first to flood if it does catch fire. Primers should survive (I hope) since cans are supposed to be watertight. At the very least it is a temp and humidity controlled dark environment.
Also use for storing strike anywhere stick and paper matches to keep dry.
Love the stove.  Great idea.
