Anyone shooting the 155gr SCENARS that Lapua makes?  I've considered trying them out in 308, as I was told they really move!  Anyone else with experience with these?  Are this simply a range only kind of round?

I've shot a hundred or so. They shot well in my SPR. My notes show Varget, RL15 and IMR4895 turning in 1/2" 5shot groups at 100yds. It looks like I only shot them a few times at 200. The notes show .775 at 200.

Harder to get locally so I went with 175smks, they shot a little better in my rifle as well.

The Scenars are a BTHP match type bullet similar to the smk's. They really aren't designed for expansion as much as flight. I wouldn't use them on game. I'm not saying they wouldn't work but there are better choices for that purpose. Edge commented recently about finding them intact from hits on steel in the 800ish range(I think 800). I've picked them up in front of the 850yd gong and they looked like you could load them and go again.

Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but you can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

If you shot something .50 caliber you can get sabots for .30 caliber. Real easy to reload then as long as the base isn't too deformed. Wouldn't expect great results but the sabots kind of mess things up any way but the velocities are to die for!
