What counts as a combat shotgun? Would the Rem 1100 I use for 3 gun work for this match?

Kaen3e would be the final answer, but last time I asked, it was something like 20" max.   I shoot a 26" barrel (?stock? 11-87) and he told me it was too long.   I use my 11-87 for 3 gun, the IAWCA PSS, and other sports.   Just not this shoot.   If you have a short enough barrel, I understand they have a fun time with some great stages.

The maximum shotgun barrel length for these shoots is 22". There have been exceptions made if the turnout was low BUT you dont get timed or a score, and yes you still have to pay the range fee.
The shoot is run every fourth sat through september.

No time.
No score.
Yes pay.
I still would like to shoot the shotgun side of the match. How about if I bring my own timer and score it just for comparison's sake.  Everyone wants to know how they shot compared to every one else.

Remember to take something else to play with in a different pit, cause you only get to pay for no time and no score if they don't have large turn out.   My luck it would be a large turn out.   Maybe with enough interest from us long barrel shooters they would form a new class and we would have another SG venue to play at.   hint hint.

gang.  this shoot was put on and invented by a few others and myself.  the goal was to get away from open type guns.  go ahead and move in tight spaces with a 30" 400shot gun and see how that works.  shoot your uspsa open pistol in a idpa match.  great!  your not gonna get your score in the official end of the day score.  so here is the question.  Do you want to be comparerd to a group with like  equip. or say you performed ....x...against a group with different equip.

no money is made on this match!  all targets are paid for by gem county and all money is received by gem county.  so if you shoot a rocket launcher your gonna pay for the targets you consume.

i want every one to come and play.  our rules are more flexible than most.  just realize unless you decide to run equipment like everybody else you won't be scored with them, no different than any other match!

Can't speak for Jordan, but my comment was about a new class, NOT being compared to the tactical class SGs.    I can't afford a tactical SG, having my SG investment in my rocket launcher and the extended 587 round tube.   Last time I tried a tactical barrel on my SG it was an expensive, miserable failure.   Comes from not using a high dollar foundation to begin with.

Thanks for giving the valley an alternative match.   Everyone I have talked to that has shot it really enjoyed it.

DVC:  my appologies, I should read more carfully.  The question has been broached many times and the premiss behind the shoot was to get "tactical mall ninja" gear to be used.  But hey if more guys want to use "goose guns" i'm up for trying it.  who know's with a lil work we might even be able to figure a handi-capping system to all run together

I was just looking for some place to go have some shot gun fun time. Who doesn't like shot gun fun time?  ;DI was not trying to piss anyone off. My Rem 1100 has either a 24 or 26 inch barrel and it's just fun to shoot. If I come across something more fitting to this match, I will be there.

kaen3e,

Apology not needed.  But accepted, just in case. ;D  In retrospect some of my comments may nave been inflammatory, my apologies as well.  I bought my SG long ago and have chosen to put any spare money on other toys.  What I have works for what I do.  One way to handicap long guns might be in stage design, otherwise, I have no clue other than an additional class which increases your match logistics.

Jordan,
Check out the IAWCA PSS shoot in October at the Gem County range.  http://iawca.org/schedule-of-events/pps  It is a man on man shoot on plate racks.  Lots of fun.  (kaen3e would agree I think...)  Just about any reliable shotgun works well.   There are also classes for pistol and subgun.

You could limit the number of rounds in the gun if you are worried about the guys with the "LONG TUBES", (like the one I have  ;D ).  This really puts everyone on a pretty even playing field especially if you have a seperate division for pump and semi auto.  Loading one shell at a time is a given.  No speed loaders or box mags...unless you wanted to do a seperate class.
