Foods that last
« on: January 18, 2008, 06:39:36 PM »
What foods do you use that would last a long time.
Spam, peanut butter, soup base, noodles and the
list goes on what are some needs, ways to store your
foods for long term
The LDS church has some good links and great information.
Sleeping bag, ground cloth, pad, food for a 3 week period
three pair of socks and a change of cloths, no pack, cup
pot tied on and out into the desert a friend goes for three
weeks. A bow drill, flint and steel in a possibles bag dry sage brush.
No matches, no dried foods, no cook stove.
No gun, no bullets, makes his bowand arrows while out there flint nap
arrow points pine pitch to hold on fl etchen on arrows...
Some of you know him from our shoots.....

I try and keep a map to all the Mormons in my neighborhood  ;) Just in case I need to borrow  a cup of sugar .

Just kidding guys . A big part of survival even in a SHTF situation is to have a survival mindset on top of your plan . Many things that you would not think of doing will become commonplace if you want to survive . "Edible" will become a state of mind as you are forced to survive on things you never even thought of as food.

I know plenty of gun Loving Mormons , Thats why I made sure they knew I was joking  ;D

They have been planning for long term survival for a long time and have some good resources but the basic 4 they advocate was designed 30+ years ago and while many of the ideas they promote can be bested with the advances in technology . There are lots of good resources online to help a guy plan his future in an altered world . Here is a pretty good all around resource ... http://www.captaindaves.com/guide/
