Latest article about an EMP attack ---

Source:  http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.printable&pageId=149117

There is renewed alarm about the possibility of an EMP attack –  electromagnetic pulse – on the United States because of Iran's work on a multi-stage Space Launch Vehicle, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

And experts forecast if such an attack were a success, it effectively could throw the U.S. back into an age of agriculture.

"Within a year of that attack, nine out of 10 Americans would be dead, because we can't support a population of the present size in urban centers and the like without electricity," said Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy http://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/index.xml. "And that is exactly what I believe the Iranians are working towards."

A recent launch of an SLV by Iran has sparked renewed concern of an attack that could send an electromagnetic pulse powerful enough to wipe out computer controls for systems on which society has come to rely, officials say.

As the G2 Bulletin reported last week, Ronald Burgess, director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, revealed that Iran successfully launched a multi-stage SLV, the Simorgh. The device ultimately could be equipped with a nuclear bomb, which the U.S. intelligence community assesses Iran is developing.

Officials also report Iran has been testing detonation of its nuclear-capable missiles by remote control while still in high-altitude flight. The development makes a potential EMP attack on the U.S. more probable.
"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission - the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."  ~ Ayn Rand

Yeah, 9 out of 10 on the east and west coast, leave the middle alone, and it would fix a lot of problems we are in today.
Except slavery, nazism, communism, and fascism, war has never solved a thing!

EMP , I would take it. Best thing in my book of how things could come apart.

Load up the back packs and head out.

I lived on a reservation while as child.

No big deal.

This is Idaho, you can live in the mountians here just fine. We have done week long trips and have one coming up hiking in southern Utah and parts of Northern AZ.

I would be heading towards the Bitter Root Mts.  Have family in that direction.

You all be safe if that happens.

Yeah life as you know it would come to an end.... for me and a few others ...it would be going back to the way things use to be.

Well back packs are a good idea if you live where you do NGO.  Living in the city I have a 77 ford and I have extra condensers, distributor, and various other electronic parts.  Oh and 50 gallons of fuel.  Should get me out of town to where I need to be and provide a little electricity until I can build a shelter.  I am still looking for a cheap cab over camper to put on her though.

IMO, if it happens anyone planning on staying in the city is probably doomed.  You better have a bug out location already prepped or you're probably doomed too.

I know we'd like to think we can just hole up and be safe from the MZB's.  There are about 500,000 people in the valley.  Most are woefully under prepared and will end up doing anything to get food.  You may keep them away for a while.  But eventually you will fall.  You can't defend against fire.

The transition from JIT (industrial/technological) society into an agriculture based society will be very painful for those of us living in the cities.  That's most of us on BS.

That's why I say...it happens just leave....

foot, bike, horse, old motorcycle....old truck.

Just load up and get away from the cities.

Have some caches pre dug with needed supplies.

Go out and do some hiking...not on pre made trails either....

you would be surprised how many suitable caves and over hangs are back in the hills and mountians... Some of them would be suitable to live in with a little work.

The mountians in the summer time are full of green food and snares are very effective in cacthing food.

Mindset...are you ready to live like a mountian man?  How about your wife and kids?  Are you getting them ready?

It is almost warm enough to enjoy the nights out camping...the stars are amazing , just a hour away from town.

I don't know, there's a lot of farm land and it will need many hands to tend and protect it.

a good percentage of those who will die are those who are dependent upon certain technologies or medications which cannot be produced or maintained in a post-apocalyptic society.  Diabetics and others dependent upon daily medication, for example, will be among the first to go.  We'd also likely see a good percentage of older americans die as ready access to medical care goes away.  Small enclaves with a wide variety of skills will be best equipped to survive.

Simple things that people never experience lead to death.

Chopping wood for the first time and a slip and slice to the leg will cause someone to bleed out due to a lack of knowledge of simple first aid. Then what if the wound gets infected?  Arms, legs will be lost to infection. Lack of anti-botics will result in many deaths on a scale we haven't seen in a hundred years.

Life expectancy on average will drop quickly.

Problem child births will result in motherless children again.

Ear infections / eye infections will result in death and blindness again.

Contaminated water will result in deadly diaharia, even plagues killing large communities.

Hepatitis will again return in large kills

I think these type of things will kill far more than gun fire or starvation.

"Bring out your dead"  " Bring out your dead"  will be heard if you are stuck in the cities.
