Monster Elk--

A friend sent me this as a FWD. Tho' most of you have probably already seen it, I thought I'd post it for those of you, like me, who've never seen it:
Hunting with a self-designed rifle, Denny Austad of Ammon, Idaho, killed this bull on Sept. 30, 2008 in the Monroe Mountain District of south-central Utah. He hunted for 13 days before connecting with the trophy, dubbed “spider bull” for its unique antler configuration.
The bull elk set a Boone and Crockett Club record. The club's measurement system considers antler size, symmetry and configuration. A panel of judges awarded 478 5/8 Boone and Crockett points for the elk.
Eldon Buckner, chairman of the club's Records of North American Big Game committee, says club officials talked with the hunter, his guides and state and federal officials to make sure the elk was wild and the hunt adhered to fair chase standards.
The previous record for a hunter-killed elk was 450 6/8 Boone and Crockett points for one taken in 1998 in Arizona.

ahhhh yes the "spider Bull" i remember reading some speculation that it was an escaped high fence bull.
Either way i would be the happiest man on earth to harvest him regardless of where he came from.
