I really want to try a block of that Silver Bear, it seems to be the best stuff out there if you don't shoot Wolf.  Anyone tried it?

My experience is with Wolf "Golden Bear" ammo. It worked well in my RRA entry Tactical M4. I was more accurate than the NATO - British Radaway Green I purchased (before that disappeared from the market).

I can't find the Golden Bear ammo either...

I purchased some Wolf Golden Bear and it was pretty accurate though my AR, but I haven't been able to find it. Does anyone know if there was some brand name change or ?  :o

You probably already know this but Walmart has a "value pack" of 223 hollow point FMJ name brand I picked up the other day, 200 rounds for 74 bucks, pretty good deal. Remington. cycled great through our M-4s even on bumpfire.

I just picked up a couple of cases of it (supposedly better & hotter than Wolf) so far has been 100% in both the MSAR STG-556 & FN FS2000 I've tried it in. However, for some reason the Wolf functions better than the Silver Bear in the FS2000 when using mags w/questionable springs. Also, it prints groups 3" to the left at 100yds when compared to the Prvi Partizan 55gr out of the STG-556. Go figure! HTH...

I tried some of that wolf and silver bear stuff.  Problem was the rounds kept getting stuck in the chamber. I guess the steel round just got heated up too much in the hot barrel.

From what I understand the steel casing doesn't seal the chamber as well as brass when it fires so you get a much dirtier chamber that causes problems.

I've tried both the Silver and Golden Bear through a RRA M-4 Entry Tactical and neither of them shot well. I just don't think the quality is there.

check Travis at www.sheepdogammo.com

travis@sheepdogammo.com

I don't know what his prices look like but I know him to be an all-round good-guy to deal with.

+1

I used Travis' ammo during Raul's AR15 class along with Enough.  1000 rounds ran flawlessly and he uses Lake City brass.  I think I paid $340 for 1000 rounds.  Best price I've seen nowadays for decent quality ammo if you're worried about ammo reliably running through your AR and you're not a fan of Wolf.
