LDS Cannery - Beef Chunks, Ground Beef, Chicken Chunks

Has anyone tried any of these? There are some left but I'm not sure how they taste and if they are reasonably priced.
Beef Chunks: $2.65
Ground Beef: $2.20
Chicken Chunks: $1.75
All are in a #300 can.
BTW, the honey (from Utah I think and not local; $11.25 per 1/2 gallon) and the Maple (flavored) syrup ($3.95 per 1/2 gallon) seem like they are priced right.

Jeff,
We have had the chicken chunks - still have a few cans. It is good for adding to soups, white sauces etc. One time we got the fresh tuna - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Can't buy tuna as good - wish we had some more.
Beef chunks are good in fajitas etc.
IMO all of them are better than store brands.

My wife cooked some of the pork chunks with some garlic and onion, shredded it and we put that with shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa in tortillas for lunch. MMMMMMMmmmmm. Had to ration the meat so everyone could have some.

Where is the LDS cannery? How do you buy there? I've heard you go and work there and get cans in return and others said if you work an hour you can buy. Curious as to how it works, anybody help? Love canned beef especially but have a hard time finding good canned beef here. Thanks!

I just went in today. I have an LDS friend and use their ward and stake. Just tell them you are not in the church and they will help you out with everything. I canned up some stuff as a volunteer and then bought what I wanted. Including the wet pack. It took me about two hours from start to finish. And now I have to cover $320 in my checking account.

Nope, they are open everyday. We just used to do it on Friday. Friday is a short day there. You should call and make sure what the hours are.
A friend of mine (member here too but rarely logs in) works Wed. mornings.

I got some ground beef to T&E. Well, it's edible but reminds me of canned dog food. It would probably been better in spaghetti sauce.
I gave a can of Pork Chunks to JollyRoger and he'll report back here when in the next day or two.

Is there an on-line price sheet for the cannery? I am assuming the prices at the LDS cannery are better then Winco, and Costco.

Yes. But I don't want to post it here. I'll post it in the Sandbox.

We are not church members either but have worked there a couple of times and got some stuff.
The dried milk is great and I don't even like milk.
Got some syrup and it's as good as any other we have tried. Honey is honey.
The potato flakes and spaghetti are good.
The canned berries - blackberries, blueberries etc are good.
The dehydrated onions and carrots are great.
They have oxygen absorbers and mylar bags.
They have narrow mouth pint and quart canning jars and lids. Not Ball or Kerr jars, they are slightly lighter weight but work fine and are not expensive.
Can't speak for the meats as we can our own.
Recommend it highly for your stores.
They do not bug you about the church and are VERY nice and friendly folks
