Went out to Sand Hollow yesterday and finally got some trigger time on my new Ruger M77 Mark II. Decent enough day: light winds and warm(-ish

). Once I'd gotten a few 'shoot one and clean - repeat' iterations done, I started working on getting the scope zeroed and eliminating a bit of the whistlepig population. They were running all over the hill behind my target and kept standing up and looking at me....taunting me. Once I'd gotten a preliminary 100 yard zero, I started taunting them back.

Laying down in the back of my truck, I spotted a few running around on the hill and started taking aim. After popping off 4 rounds, I went up to check my work. I started wandering around looking for the bodies and, much to my surprise, couldn't find them. I knew I'd gotten the li'l basrats, but where the heck was the proof?? I kept looking and finally figured out why I hadn't been able to find them......

kinda hard to find 'em, when the .204 round has eliminated most of the evidence!

Another one eliminated at ~4000fps

These two were taken one right after the other. Although I'd heard about whistlepigs' cannibalistic tendencies, I'd never actually seen it until yesterday. The cannibal was taught the error of his ways.

Shooting stuff is WAY too much fun!
