Voodoo Tactical 46-inch MOLLE Soft Rifle Case, Padded Weapon Bag with Backpack Straps:

Description of item:

Description of review tests: I purchased this bag because of the features of being able to carry two rifles and lots of gear and because I liked the camo.  After purchase I immediately loaded it up with everthing I could find to see how much it would hold. It will hold more than you want to lift believe me! I comes with backpack straps, shoulder strap and duffel style handle with wrap. There are a few MOLLE loops on the front and there are two cinching straps that wrap around the girth of the  bag on either side of the handle to keep stuff from shifting too much in the bag.

The inside panels have corner trap flaps that help hold the firearms as well. On the two smaller pouches there is a water resistant liner.

Behind the pouches is a large zippered flap that has one small zippered pocket and two larger Velcro closure pockets. When filled as long as the items inside are not too bulky the do not seem to interfere with firearms inside. Although I would be cautious if you had optics that you did not want to get banged around and you dropped or  tossed this bag in the back of the truck. The items in the pockets could possibly bang into them depending on how you had things loaded.

Pros:
This bag does carry two rifles and a LOT of gear.

Because you can really load this bag up it is nice to have the capabilities of the backpack straps.

The MOLLE loops on the front are nice for attaching and removing MOLLE pouches and gear for even more carrying capability. I can carry 8- 30 round AR mags in the center pouch and 5 in either of the two side pouches.

There are Velcro straps that keep the rifles or shotguns to the inside panel of the bag. The Velcro is pretty strong.

Cons:
The main zipper on this bag has started to foul up. I am not sure if I can fix this or not. I would not have guessed that the large zipper would do this. I am really disappointed that this has started to happen. In fact I hate to think that the Achilles heel of this bag would be the zippers and I will have to toss it.

The other thing is the interior panel material. It seems a bit on the light side and I believe over an extend period of time with begin to wear out. Also it is not noiseless. It does however appear to not hold moisture like a wool or cotton.

Backpack strap attachment- I am not really pleased in the way the straps hook to the bag. I don’t like the fact that the straps have to loop through themselves to attach on the lower metal rings. I would rather have something that engages and disengages quickly. I know that I can fabricate something but it seems they “cheaped out” a bit here on the design. I would like to have seen a separate pocket for strap stowage as well. The chest cross strap is a nice touch though.

Best Uses: carrying a couple AR style rifles and accessories.
Duration Used: 5 months
Where purchased: I purchased this bag at the 2009 Boise gun show. Impulse buy.
Cost:$89.00
Rating:3+ I would rate higher but the zipper fouling really disappoints me.

What brand is it?  Our agency bought some drag bags awhile ago, and all four developed zipper problems instantly. I took mine to a place in Nampa (across from Fred Meyers called Thunder Mountain Tent and Canvas)  and had them replace the zipper with a better one. They said they see constant problems with foreign made zippers. Surprisingly enough, she said it's not the teeth on the zipper that is bad, it's the device that moves that is junk.  Anyway, after they put a different zipper in place, those problems were history.  I think it cost about $20-25 for a new zipper.
How is the reinforced stitching in the corner/attachment areas?  With all due respect, the amount of equipment that WILL fit doesn't neccessarily equate to how much equipment it should carry before it self-destructs.
I like the idea of hook-and-loop inside to hold the weapons still rather than the buckles ours have.  I had a few extra hook-and-loop patches sewn on, up on the muzzle end on the outside of the case. The provided "cover" that is supposed to protect that end (when being used in an actual "dragging") would not stat put.  The hook-and-loop took care of that.
In most of the drag-bags/tactical cases I have seen, the zipper seems to be the weak link.

It is Voodoo Tactical brand. (now added to the OP)

The stitching looks fairly solid. I am not an expert on stichwork so take that for what it is worth.

I agree that you do not have to pack everything under the sun in there but it advertises right on the website

"Holds Two Bbattle Rifles or Shotguns and Two Pistolsas" cut and pasted from HERE .

I dont NEED to carry 18 fully loaded 30 rnd mags but I CAN if you want. Grin

Thanks for the tip on where to take it to get it fixed if need be. But for 25 extra dollars it may be worth it to find a bag that does not need to be "DE-chinese-ed"  Wink

I have one at the shop you can check out.  I'm surprised about the zipper.  The one I have looks really solid.

Jeff,

I am surprised by the zipper as well. It definately looks heavy duty enough. Overall I really like the bag and would have rated it much higher if not for the zipper. Maybe I got that one in a hundred that is bad.

I got one of these a couple of years back and my zipper is a POS too. Mine hasn't gone completely tits up but it definitely isn't the smoothest zipper I've ever worked with. Over all I like the bag, and yes it will hold more crap than you'll likely want to carry.
