3 gun 101
« on: March 10, 2010, 08:17:44 PM »
OK.  My calender is open for the 10th and 11th of April.  I haven't asked Emmett if I can have the class there, but the upper range is open for Saturday and the lower ranges where we would do some rifle shooting are open on Sunday...shouldn't be an issue.
I need to know how many people WILL be there.  I'm not going to commit an entire weekend to this unless I have at least 8 people willing to sign up and commit to both days.  Let me know and we'll do it.  I am going to charge $20 bucks for this to cover any range fees that might come up and my time to get targets rounded up and that sort of thing.  I'll stand by to hear from you all.  I need the eight people NLT the 3rd.
Adios,
TG

The class will run from about 8:30-4:30 both days.  The first day will cover gear, the different 3 gun rules and basically be a question and answer session about anything you have questions about.  We shouldn't have any trouble at all filling this day, but if we do, we will start on some shotgun loading/shooting.
The second day we will actually have a small stage set up that we will use all three guns.  We will discuss "stage doping", and look at the good and bad ways to shoot stages and certain targets.  Bring a notepad because there will be a lot of information there.  Other items we will discuss off the top of my head are:
Shooting a whirly gig with a pistol and with a shotgun
Shooting swingers
Shooting flying clays thrown from a pigeon flipper
Long range rifle targets and your dope
Equipment positioning (on your body)

If you don't see something you'd like to talk about, let me know and we'll go over it.

That would be fine. I'd say bring 300 R P and SG. I'd be surprised if we used half that many but its better to have it and not need it. A lot of it is going to depend on how many questions there are and how much shooting everyone does.

I got approval from Emmett to have the class there an the 10th and 11th.  I am limiting the class to 10 students to make sure everyone gets their monies worth (wait a minute...it's only $20!!)..anyway, I don't want it to be to crowded.  If there is enough interest, I'll see if we can do another one later in the spring.
Here is a list of people I currently have signed up.  If you want to go, I'll take four three two one 0 more people as one of these people might only be there for one day.  Let me know ASAP.  Thanks.

You won't need any slugs or buckshot.  We'll talk about them and discuss which ones work best, etc. but we won't be shooting any...unless you just have a bunch you want to get rid of  ;D

I would be if it weren't the 10th/11th.  My mother's memorial service is that weekend.  Please let me know when you do the next class as I'm sure that I'd be interested.  My fiancee may also be interested.

Thx!

The usual age group is between 15 and 65 (I hope I'm not offending any of my "older" students :-\).  The ability levels will range from very novice to high intermediate.  Just like every class I have ever been to, some of the issues/items discussed will not be helpful to you and others will be very helpful.   You'll get out of it exactly what you put into it if that makes sense.
I'd rather not have anyone come out to observe.  It's not like I'm charging an arm and a leg for the class, but the rest of the students have made both a financial and time commitment, and I feel like I owe them 100% of my undivided attention.  With that being said, I'd be happy to have you at the next one and just like this one, you too will get my full undivided attention....for what that is worth : )

If you are coming to this, please pm me your personal e mail address so I can get you the rest of the details on the class regarding what to bring and some other information.  I'll be compiling an email list and sending it out early next week.  Looking forward to having you all.

Well, I'm not sure what is going on.   :-[  I got some pretty good reviews of the class.  I guess they might not be BS members.  Oh well.  I won't toot my own horn so if we don't get anything here, you'll have to take your chances with me!  The class did chip in and give me another $100 for my troubles.
