This is a great event guys.  Especially if you want to take your wife or daughter shooting.  Unless you have shot together before, and she has fun....and I mean REALLY has fun and not just tells you she has fun, think about letting her take a couple of her friends and shooting on a squad without you.  I hate to say it, but not all husbands are good teachers....especially to their wives.
Last hear I shot with Mr. and Mrs. FJ40MOJO, Mr. and Mrs. Mopeman, and they all seem to have had a great time.  I also shot with a lady who was about 65 and her two daughters, and Cliff's wife...as in "Cliffs Guns and Safes" wife.  All the ladies without their husbands there said they really enjoyed themselfs because they weren't getting "coached".  Just something to think about.  Regardless, come on out for a great time that supports a great cause.

She should grab a GF and come out. She will meet lots of other ladies, have a good time, and support an important cause. There have been plenty of gals that just show up without knowing anybody but they leave with lots of new friends and a better understanding of why we guys like shootin guns so much :)

Mostly paper some steel. Steel being knockdown plates and poppers, we had a texas star out there last year too. I design the stages so that even day one new shooters will be sucessfu and have a good time.

What do you think about putting a Steel Challenge stage in there?  We could do Smoke and Hope and just shoot it two or three times?  I just thought that would be a good quick and easy stage.  If you want to let me know and I'll being it out.

TG I think that is an AWESOME idea. It is super fun to shoot ...plus we might get a few to come to the weekly steel challenge matches.
How many stages do you want to set? 1...2?

COOL!!  I can do up to four.  If you wanted to do two, I'd suggest Smoke and Hope and Five to Go.  That will give you a "hoser" stage and an "accuracy" stage.  If this is good for you, just say the word, and I'll bring them with me.

Hi everyone!  Mama? :sarcon: Sheepdog here.  We were at the Twin Falls gunshow over the weekend or I would have been here sooner.  I am thrilled to see all of you so enthused about SFAC 2010.  We have some new things for this year and the steel challenge stuff that is being talked about here sounds great! I am just asking people to get their registration forms in as soon as you can.  Sure makes my job easier if I know how many to expect earlier in the game.  For women that don't want to shoot with their SO we can arrange that. ;)  Also this year I am asking if you have something to donate to the prize table,(skills in the form of a gift certificate, craft, cool item, gun ;D) we would proudly put it on the prize table.  It is alot of work to gather up prizes for everyone in this economy.  I do have some great people that help to gather prizes, and commitments from local businesses and clubs to donate great prizes. Those of you that have shot this in the past know we have the most diverse prizes of any shoot.  From guns to roses to laser hair removal  Everyone goes to the prize table and we like it that way!!  Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Shoot for a Cure 2010!

This is an event that my wife and I always enjoy. We're coming out of Eastern Oregon to attend, as we have the last two years, and its always worth the drive!

We'll be there this year, and thanks for the reminder to get my form in! Zac.
No, I know exactly what I'm doing, I just have no clue what effect it will have!

Absolutely - pleanty of new shooters and first timers at this event. All the shooting is done under supervision of an experienced range officer who will make sure you understand the course of fire and keep you and the spectators safe.

Spoke withthe Sheepdogs today and looks like I will be donating a couple of gift certificates for knife sharpening for the prize table and providing first responder coverage on top of shooting. Can't wait. Glad to be able to contribute!

Just want to get my 2 cents in…. Last year was my first time shooting at a competition and I have to say that I am so happy that it was Shoot for a Cure… I had so much fun Thanks to the sheepdog family, Travis G, Forest my husband and all the others shooters there.  I have to say I was so nervous when my Husband came home and asked me to shoot in the competition with him.. I hemmed and hawed turning in the registration forms all the way up to the last minute secretly hoping he would forget about the entire thing… I am so happy that we did do it… I never met a more positive, friendly group of people.. Being as it was my first shoot I was still terribly nervous but everyone cheered everyone on.. I think that was the best part the way that everyone supported everyone and cheered… I made so many new friends that day and to this day still enjoy shooting with them. I am looking forward to shooting again this year and making several more new friends.  So if you are nervous or scared don’t be nobody expects you to shoot good or perfect they just expect you to have fun and support a good cause.  Plus remember everyone walks away with a prize..  I was one of the lucky few who won a gun last year  ;D Made my husband really jealous… :-* I also donated a gift basket of stamping and scrapbooking supplies to the prize table..This year I plan to donate more supplies and a Shoot for the cure scrapbook to put all those pictures everyone has lying around in.  So to sum it up come out have fun and remember it’s for a good cause.

Hi everyone!  Mama Sheepdog here.  So we have been busy and found a place locally that actually constructs custom sports style tee shirts for less than the cost of last years!  I enjoyed last years shirts but these are REALLY COOL!!!  So please if you plan on shooting in SFAC 2010 sign up early as they need time put them together.  I really appreciate everyone donating to the prize table, it will really help.  We already have some great prizes lined up!   We are working on a  special pricing deal with Charter Arms that we will offer to shooters that may not be lucky enough to win the Pink Lady on the day of the shoot but may want a concealed carry gun or a back up gun.  I am also working on getting a beautiful turquiose and black or sexy red and black 38 special for the prize table! Sign up soon! Thanks, Tina

Yeah!!  We received our first 2 entries today!  From 2 men that have shot in SFAC08 & SFAC09.  If you know you want to shoot this year send in your registration forms early.  I don't want anyone to miss out on these great custom shirts! They need time to make them. If you think you might be interested in a revolver from Charter Arms let me know either with a note on your registration or give me a call.  It will be a smokin' deal. Anything above dealer cost will go to the cause and Travis will not charge a transfer fee!  If you can't tell I'm excited and have great help on board with Carrie Anne, Jan and Rhonda gathering prizes.  I think this will be the best year yet! ;D

My wife and I have shot in this event for the past two years. Its the one event she really gets psyched up about, so she's pretty happy right now.

I did have a question, she is kicking around the idea of throwing out a gift certificate for free photography through her business for the prize table. Is that something anyone would be interested in? Right now she's talking about doing a free wedding shoot for some interested party, so someone could potentially save a serious amount of cash...

Thanks zac.

Hi everyone.  Another gunshow weekend.  Homedale this time.  Between running up and down the road to that and the Parma Rod and Gun Wild Game Dinner I didn't have time to sit down at the computer.  Yes sidaemon we would be thrilled to have photography on the table.  We did have some on the table last year and it went fast.  Just have your wife get in touch with me so we can make arrangments to get biz info and logo for shirts.  Remember $300.00 cash or prize equivilent makes you a stage sponsor and gets info on shirts. On a different note WE HAVE GONE INTERNATIONAL!!! ;D  We received a registration form from a woman in Veldhoven,NL.
I believe that is Holland.(?)  She is planning her vacation to the USA around our shoot.  She shot last year also. We are glad she enjoyed herself enough to come back again this year!  I don't want to sound like a broken record but please get your registration forms in by April 15. I know the registration forms say by May 1 but it is all about giving the shirt people time enough to sew them for everyone.  We received overnight FEDEX from Team LaGrande  with their paperwork.  They are a really fun group of people and just seem to be a walking party out there.  They really take their shooting seriously, and have a great time doing it!  Glad to have them on board again already.  Plus it seems both years at least one of their group has gone away with a gun.  Makes that 2.5 hour drive more worth it.  Thanks again, Tina

Hey everyone!  Monique from Grande Photography  in La Grande has just donated a photo session to the prize table.  She said wedding, family or senior pictures.  She would like to keep them in the area between Boise and La Grande. There's some great scenery to work with in there.  Also lots of other great prizes being talked about.  The knife sharpening would be great for my mom the retired professional chef.  Mrsmopeman is donating photo album and basket of goodies.  A gift certificate for permanant cosmetics.  I have even heard talk of a pink AK :o  How cool is that!  Get you registration forms in soon! Thanks Tina

Hey all you shooters!  We have just under 2 months before SFAC 2010.  I am still excited. We have about 40 entries so far.If  you are still undecided about if you want to shoot in this event, go to parmarng.org and look at the photos from the last 2 years.  Year 2 looks (and was ;)) much more organized than year 1.  The main thing I was seeing as I looked back at the photos this morning is all the smiling faces and  Bruce takes great pictures!  If your SO is still not sure about taking part, show them the pictures. Everyone makes sure everybody is safe and all are having a good time.  I am meeting with the ladies helping me gather prizes tommorrow!  All of them are experienced shooters and we are brainstorming on  fun things to do and getting more cool prizes! We have 11 stage sponsors already :o and are still looking for donations.  Tonight Sheepdog 1 and I will be going to the Nampa Gun Club to talk with them about donating to the shoot.  We have already got Gem County Rod and Gun Club to be a stage sponsor. (2nd year)  Thurday we will talk with IAWCA again.  As those of you that shot last year will remember IAWCA donated a Lady Smith .38 to the prize table and also let anyone interested a chance to shoot a machine gun.  They will be at SFAC 2010 letting people shoot again this year ;D I hate to sound like a broken record but if you know you want to shoot this year please get your entries in by April 15.  The people making our shirts need time to sew them. I will order a few extra in different sizes but if you want to be sure to get just the right size GET YOUR ENTRY IN! Thanks to everybody that has sent theirs in already :-* Have a great day ;D

Hi Everybody!  Mama Sheepdog here. I just sent out confirmation to the 64 people that have signed up for the Shoot for a Cure 2010.  I'm getting more excited by the day!  Local stage sponsors and some national also.  Guns, gear, roses, photography, the most diverse prize table yet. The latest sponsors are Primary Weapons, Zebra 12, and Cyclone Sportwear.  Travis found out today our friends at IAWCA are donating a handgun again this year! I know there are still alot of you that plan on shooting that have not signed up yet.  Get your stuff sent in as soon as you can.  We want to make sure to have plenty of food and enough shirts and goodies to go around!  If you have any questions or would like to make a donation to the prize table feel free to contact me at 208-230-2404 or via email tina@sheepdogammo.com
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
Thanks again to all that have signed up!

What type of shooting is it?  Pistol or rifle?  Any limitations on caliber?

Are the target distances at 25 yards, 50, 100, etc?

I have several handguns, but I've never shot competition.  Perhaps next year.

GrayWolf,
You need to shoot this event. Guaranteed you will have a great time. This is strictly handguns, some paper some steel, no caliber limitations in the past-everything form .22 to .45, mostly short range-<30yards, very laid back fun atmosphere but safe, start from holster or low ready, loner guns available too, perfect event to get you and your SO involved in the shooting community. Everybody takes a trip to the prize table regardless of score, just luck of the draw, and there are great prizes available including a couple certificates for free sharpening by yours truely.

Best of all it's a great cause! Don't wait till next year, get involved now and enjoy the great shooting community we have here in Idaho. ;D

I have several handguns, but I've never shot competition.  Perhaps next year.

Graywolf,

I shot the match for the first time last year and had a lot of fun.  It is geared towards first time competitors.   I shot a .22 last year because it was a good opportunity.  The match would have been just as fun with a 9mm, .40, whatever.   Don't wait til next year!

DVC,
Ron

A few months ago I asked Carol, a long-time friend and Komen supporter, to go shooting. Well, busy schedules, snowboarding, travel and life got in the way. But I kept asking. The Annual Shoot for a Cure was mentioned and it was tentatively planned for us to go.

Two weeks ago Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer, and had the operation three days ago. Chemo starts soon. She says if the strength is in her she'd like to go. Because there may not be a next year.

Funny thing is, Carol is such a great athlete and told me she did well at the range many years ago in Hawaii. Guaranteed she'll outshoot me with my gun, my ammo and even with my "coaching."

Went to her house to mow the lawn and remind her of the shoot. I think it'd be a bright spot and a great memory for she and I.

Tina her. YamaLink I have tried three times to respond on Boise shooters to your post. The news of your friends breast cancer saddens me deeply and I am sure most others people on this site feel this way also. :'( Hopefully with everything that is going on in Carol's life right now she will feel up to coming out to SFAC.  As all have noted here it is alot of fun. While she won't be able to forget what she is going thru she will see that alot of people care and are trying to to help change things. So come on out and enjoy the day!
That said I need to let everyone know that if you plan on being a stage sponsor or having a team and you want your info on the shirts I need to know by April 15.  I'm not trying to sound like a broken record but that is the cut off date to get info to the manufacturer of the shirts.
I'm getting entries daily and we are up to 75. We are adding some new things this year to raise some extra funds.  Balloon shoot, bucket drawings and zipline rides.  We have a great team putting everything together this year and we are looking to make it the most fun Shoot for a Cure yet ;D

Hi Everybody!Tina here.I am back from the coast 8) and ready to start wrapping up the paperwork stuff for  this years Shoot for a Cure so everybody can have some fun!  Fliers can be printed off the parmarng.orgwebsite.  Today is the last day for sending in any info to me about teams and stage sponsors.  The shirt people are ready to get started on making them for us.  If you are planning on donating anything to the prize table please let me know.I want to be sure to get everybody that donates  acknowledged in the Thank You tri-fold.  I need to know what you will be donating and your contact info by May 1 so I can get Tiffany started on the fliers.  I would also like to have what you are donating in my hands if possible by May 1.  That way I can see just what we have and what we may need.Get ahold of me so we can make arrangements for picking things up of you can bring them to me or one of the ladies helping this year. I will be at the Marsing Gun Show this weekend if you plan on being there and want to drop off your donation. I want to make sure that everyone walks away with a prize ;D  We are getting some great donations.  Our friends at IAWCA have donated a Ruger Mark III. Charter Arms has sent a Pink Lady 38 special.Alpha Omega has donated a Pink AK.  Zebra 12 is donating boots.  Rhonda got Tates Rents to donate 1/2 day rental of a bouncy tent.  What a great birthday party that would make for kids or grandkids! We have around 100 shooters signed up right now and people inquiring daily about taking part in SFAC 2010. I think everyone will have a great time and am looking forward to seeing you there!!

Good Morning Everybody! Tina here. We have wrapped up the sponsors and team stuff for the shirts.  We have 31 sponsors and 7 teams! 8) We now have 115 people signed up to shoot. I have no doubt that we will make 150.  Soooo, now here is my call for qualified SO's and RO's. We have a few people that have committed already but not enough. I think we will need 15. Those of you that have ROed in the past know that this is not your everyday shooting event. We have some people that have never shot before and the idea is to put them at ease. No fancy stuff. RO's shoot last. We all know how good and fast you are but these ladies need to be nurtured, not shown up.(until the end ;))If you could email me at tina@sheepdogammo.com saying you are up for this challenge (patience is a must!) and give me your shirt size we would be happy to have you. Please include contact info. I think alot of people are really excited about SFAC 2010. We have more survivors and ladies in treatment this year then in years past. We want to make it a fun day for everybody. :)P.S. We are still accepting prizes for the tables if you have something you want to donate. If you have already committed to donate something please let me know about making arrangements to get it to me.Thanks everybody have a great day ;D Tina

Tina here.  So wow!!! 250 shooters  We are still working on getting everything lined up, but it is really starting to come together. If you are taking part in SFAC and have an easy-up that we could use that would be great.  We want to have shade available at every stage.  Also if your entry is not postmarked today, it is to late for you to sign up. I did cut a little slack past the first.  If you want to come out and watch and help out fine but we are filled up! Just remember no one under 16 at the range that day. We need two baby dolls for a stage.  If you have one to donate to the range let me know. If you can carpool with someone to the range that day please do!  I look forward to seeing everyone at Shoot for a Cure 2010 and I'm sure we will all have a great time. ;D

Is anyone carpooling from the Boise/Meridian area? Considering the number of people signed up, it would probably be a good idea.

Good idea, with the number of shooters signed up parking could become a problem. We could take a couple in our car or would be willing to share gas money and ride with someone.

Hi Everyone! Tina here. Carpooling is a great idea. :DWe will have Eagle Scouts out there directing traffic as people come in. Travis will be briefing them on Friday.  I know everyone will be nice to them. :)Trucks can go down below, cars on the flats. Also a pretty woman will be at the gate reminding everyone that Saturday the range is cold carry and explaining it to those that don't know what that means. Everyone on here knows what that means but new shooters may not. ??? Just smile at the pretty woman when she tells you and follow the pointing young men with orange bands.  We really want this to be safe and go smooth. We think we have most of it figured out but all of the shooters are going to make this a success. ;D Travis will be at the range Wednesday AM thru Sunday PM. (Yes he will come home at night :)) but if you have some free time and want to go out and help I'm sure he would put you to work.  Targets will be painted pink again this year, 16 stages to set up. Lots to do.  We have water covered but it is supposed to be 77  on Saturday!  Bring your sunscreen! 8) See you there ;D

I'm bringing my MK II as a loner, but I've only got 2 mags, and would prefer that it stay on my squad.
Got a holster for it too, cheapo Uncle Mike's but it'll work.

Curious to know if there is an estimated round count for this event.  Don't want to make the mistake of not packing enough ammo...

Codethree,
It was good to see you and meet your wife. I'm glad she enjoyed herself.

It was a great day. Weather was excellent.

Thanks to the sponsors. Without their generous donations this would not be possible.

Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to put this on. Travis and Tina, you did a great job organizing this.

GREAT EVENT!

Good times had by all, no injuries as far as I know, and everybody got a prize of some sort. After multiple trades and finagling and some help from friends I walked away with an MGM AutoPopper. Gonna go knock the new off of it today.

Zona, your pics are awesome, and 9Shooter, wished you'd recorded my second run!

Sorry man, I wish I had too.  I'll vouch for fj40mojo when he says his second run on stage 1 was better than what I caught on camera ;)

Next time I think I'll get more video and choose from the best instead.  New camera, didn't know how far the memory card would go.

No thanks needed.  I wanted to do more but couldn't cut it this time.  I'm glad everyone was safe and had fun.  Congrats to everyone involved in making this SFAC a great event.
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

Looking at the scores I got typoed out! Got tagged with 60 seconds on a stage I did in 6! Moved me down like a 150 places! I protest!!! ;D

Seriously, this was a good shoot for a great cause. I especially enjoyed the breaking out of the ol' texas star for the side match instead of sitting around.

Thanks for the solid event, I know it was a hell of a lot of work, so thanks!

Zac.
No, I know exactly what I'm doing, I just have no clue what effect it will have!

Hi Everyone! Tina here!  I know everybody is curious about how much money was donated to MSTI from the Shoot for a Cure 2010.  Rhonda Gibson and I met with the women from St.Luke's today.  After all the checks for expenses have cleared we donated $6835.29 ;D.  What a great thing the shooting community did by supporting this cause.
We did discuss some of the things we would like them to provide for us since they have been getting all the money raised by this event for 3 years.(Year 1 Komen got $50.00) The stuff for the goody bags that I asked for was about the same as in years past .  We missed the bandannas and chap stik and personal first aid kits this year.  Hopefully those will be there next year.
The number one thing we want is for the shooting community to be recognized for being the generous group of people and businesses that support our area!!! Please know that we have tried every year to get the media involved with this event.  We have some new ideas that we will work on for next year.
We are open to suggestions on this and any other aspect of the Shoot for a Cure.  We have gotten some good ones so far.  Next year we will have handicap parking for those that need it.  Also for all you experienced shooters that found it to easy this year, thank you for bearing with us and helping support the cause.  Next year we will have beginning and experienced shooter boxes to make it more of a challenge.
So thanks again to everyone that helped with Shoot for a Cure 2010.  I have received many complements on how smoothly it went and how quickly we got 224 shooters through shooting, lunch, and the prize table. We also had only minor injuries this year.  Must have been having those good luck charms of trained RO's, safety officers, EMT's, and first responders there. :-* I hope everyone had a great time and is looking forward to the 4th Annual Shoot for a Cure.  We will start working on it at SHOT Show in Vegas in Jan 2011.

Hi Everybody! I know it is early to be discussing Shoot for a Cure 2011, but I am trying to get a grant from the NRA Foundation. I must have the paperwork(via email) turned in by Nov.1.  They want me to submit letters from people that the grant may benefit.  So my request is...If you have shot in any of the past 3 SFAC's and found that you really enjoyed it, it was your first time shooting in a range setting, maybe it got you more involved in shooting competition, maybe this is the event that got you to shoot with your husband, or any really cool comments that you may have that would perhaps be looked upon favorably by the NRA could you please email them to me? I have applied with St. Luke's Fund already and have people that are excited about SFAC 2011. Hope you will be to. Every year is a learning experience and we have already discussed some changes to make next year better!!! My email address is tina@sheepdogammo.com Thank you very much, Tina Fisher
