that link was dead, but here is the google video link -

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-553546854960309996&q=Bugatti+Veyron+top+speed

That was truly as exciting to watch as a lot of movies I've seen.  :headbang:

The fastest that I've ever gone was about 150ish on the Autoban between Frankfurt and Heidelberg.  When we drove down into town and had to slow down to 100km/h (62mph), it felt like we were traveling in slow motion... I can only imagine... actually I can't imagine what 253 would feel like.   ;D

I got to 117 on a Kawasaki Ninja (on Warm Springs Road about 15 years ago) before I chickened out......and shut her down.

While in the AF I blueprinted , ported, polished, balanced, bored it 10 over  a 400 out of a 69 GTO. Dropped that into a '79 firebird and, depending on the rear end, could use 400+hp to either do 13 sec qtr miles OR go 174 mph. Dry lake beds around Edwards AFB were a great place on weekends. And in the early '80s Riverside Race way was open to the public a couple times a week.

Now a F body car even with a wing on the rear and body panels and front air dams installed was never designed to go that fast.  So from around 150 on up you risked death if the slightest wind blew. At about 165 you could turn the wheel side to side from 9 to 3 o'clock and nothing happened. After that I think the wheel would act a  sail and turn the front end a little, didn't do thank to much.

Had my old Mopar 340ci Dodge Aspen up to 150mph down on the Interstate outside of Atlanta for about 10 miles.  Had my Suzuki GXSR up to 140mph and would have gone faster but I had to back off as the wind was smashing the helmet into my face.

sure, I figured those things would've been governed at 85mph or so.

My Suburbane is governed at 100mph.

The nice part is that it don't feel like it and the wife and kids were surprised that we were going that fast. :o

It did make the trip thru WY and SD go a quick last fall.

I got a Geo Tracker (2 door) up to around 100 once.  :-)  Talk about driving a brick around.  :-)

Well, when I was cruising (patrolling southern Idaho), Ford Taurus 135mph, Chevy Caprice 145 mph, and a ton of fun with an older 5 speed police Mustang.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Okay everyone, offical police business. Nothing to see here. Move along.

All in the name of responding to an emergency of course.

 ;)

This was a long time ago. Got away from LE in 97.
