I'd 2nd the JBM tool, it's works well, with good info on the input. It tracks well with my Exbal.

If your looking for a pocket PC or Palm based solutiong, the Exbal from Perry Systems is excellent.

This is the same program that Nightforce uses, they just rebrand it. It is an excellent field tool. I have the palm version and a cheap palm that I picked up that is only goes in my sniper bag for this use. One of the advantages with the Exbal is that is uses multiple BC for various speeds, for a more accurate result.

In looking at the WSSM spreadsheet, his calcs are close out to about 500yds, but for the farther distances he starts varying from what I know to be the right data from Exbal and JBM. But it is a good spreadsheet that he has put a lot of thought into and his conversions tab is excellent.

I'll third that, it works even better than Sierra Infinity Suite, and it's free!

Hornady has a free one that is simple to use, easier than JBM.
Outputs are real close, if not perfect.

Only goes out to 1,000 yards though.

As with any program, junk in::::: Junk out.

Shooter - Ballistics Calculator for Android

I've been using this for about a week on my Droid Incredible and to date it's the only thing keeping me from using the phone as a target.

Love that app... it seems to be dead on.

I like the GPS feature on it as well.

Great little program for 9 bucks. In fact, it's right up there with Exbal for $79.

Berger Bullets also has a ballistics program that is free to download.

http://www.bergerbullets.com/Ballistics%20Program/index.html

Barnes Bullets also offers one, Barnes Ballistics 2.0.10

I have not used the Barnes one. Mainly because it is listed as costing $39.99. I am sure with some searching a person could find a free version of it to download. However, there are enough other free ones out there it may not be worth the effort.

Having just switched phone platforms, who here has some iPhone recommendations.

The JBM ballistics program is available, and their are a couple others I see. Whose used what. I assume the JBM to be the normal good stuff.

I think I might miss Shooter for the Droid though, that was a great app.

Update: Shooter is available for the iphone! And it works great. I used it at the mile shoot and at 1400yd it was dead on, at 1760yd it was 3 moa off... but, my bullet had gone sub-mach at that point, so I can't really blame the program for not telling me how bad my bullet was tumbling.

If your looking for a good ballistics program for the iphone, shooter is good. Pulls in the MET data if you are connected to the net, east to see individual solutions or a table, and it tells you when the bullet goes transonic. Great little program for $9.99
