Hey, I would like to thank you Nomad for the information.I read your post, and ran out and bought a pressure canner. The last two weeks the wife and I have been eating dinner out of the thing every night. Things cook so fast, and taste sooooo good. 15 minutes to cook a whole chicken! 40 minutes from dried beans and meat to chili. And let me tell you when you go out and buy a $10 ham and eat eat 5 different ways through the week it sure stretches the old food dollar! The canner cost me $65 but I've probably saved twice that just in the fact that I've been able to skip going out to eat on those nights when I don't get off work until 8...So thanks, more ammo and gun money!Zac.
Mine's a Presto 16 quart, bought it at the local Sprawl-Mart for $65.Looked them up on Amazon and they ran about $80 there, first item I've seen in months that Wal-mart had the cheaper price on it. Good little deal. This one has three safety systems on it to insure that it doesn't overpressurize and blow up. I cooked chili in it the other day, took less than and hour! It was totally awsome. Makes cooking for me and my wife terrific, and everything comes out soooooo juicy and tender, at least once you get used to keeping things up out of the water (which turns everything into stew). One other thing is that when you are done you can throw dog food into the water and hand it out to the boys. My dogs love it and they will push and shove to get all three of their heads into the pot at the same time!Good post, and again, thanks, Zac.
