Item being reviewed:
EOD Robotics Breacher Bar and custom Solar Tactical sheath

Description of item:
The EOD breacher bar is a small, useful pry bar made by and for: Bomb Techs, SWAT Operators and Patrol Officers. It is made from 1045 high carbon steel and fully heat treated to a Rockwell hardness of over 45.

The Breacher bar has edges that can be sharpened possibly be used as an edged weapon. As is you can use it to pry, with or without a hammer, the butt end can be used as a hammer...chisel, or punch. It seems to me it could serve as a fine defensive weapon as well. It could easily crack a rib or skull or chop a finger.

In my day to day life I have used it for such things as: Prying into a file cabinet I locked myself out of, prying a stuck AK carrier, opening packages and envelopes, scratching hard to reach places, cleaning under my finger nails, pulling staples, all kinds of stuff.

Solar Tactical Kydex sheath
was something I have needed ever since I got the EOD bar. There is no product to my knowledge specifically made for the EOD bar available commercially. So, I went in search of something, anything, that I could hold this in on a belt or gear. I was just tossing it in my day pack and I wanted it more readily accessible. I started looking into making my own Kydex and then figured it was too expensive just to make 1 lousy sheath. I found Solar tactical custom Kydex. Now there wasn't a whole lotta info or pics on his site so I just E-mailed him a pic of the EOD and asked him how much to make a sheath in a MOLLE style attachment.
He was quick to reply with a quote. I sent him the EOD and payment and received the finished product within 5 days. He provided updates and even a picture of it done along the way!

When I got it I was surprised at the retention. It was ROCK solid. I am not at all worried about it falling out. The MOLLE strap he used is made by Blade tech. I have used Blade tech holsters and mag holders before and was very happy...Solar Tac did not skimp out here and use a no-name MOLLE clip to save a few bucks...I am happy about that. The MOLLE clip is held on by 3 fastener screws, great workmanship/craftsmanship.

here is the EOD in the sheath

Description of review tests:
As stated above I have used the EOD in my day to day life for little things here and there...also noted above is the quality of the sheath. Here is a test not done by me of the EOD to give you an idea of its durability.

Pros:
Inexpensive
multi uses
handy
both, well made

Cons:
None to speak of, not many downsides to a simple tool and sheath. The only downside really is that there was never a commercially made sheath.

Best Uses:
You can carry the EOD in sheath now just like you would carry a fixed blade knife. Best use was the stuck bolt carries on that AK.
A lot of guys will actually try and use a fixed blade knife as a pry bar and either end up cutting themselves or damaging an expensive knife.

Duration Used:
I have had the EOD for about a year now and carried it in my day pack since. I have had the Solar Tac sheath for about a week.

Where purchased:
The EOD was a gift. It came wrapped and painted by my friend that gave it to me.
The EOD comes in the raw/white without a wrap here: http://www.endtimesreport.com/survival_shop.html

The Sheath was custom made and purchased here: http://www.solartactical.com/

Cost:

The EOD was like I said a gift but can be had at the link above for $16.95
The Solar tac sheath was $20

Rating:

5 its that useful!

Enjoy!

As soon as I saw the bar it reminded me of a tool I have at the bodyshop for ripping cars apart.

http://www.steckmfg.com/20015.htm

More money but longer and pre done handle. I dont know the hardness of it but I know I have had mine for more then a year and constant beating with a hammer and it is holding up nice.

I like the looks of this little bar.  I could easily keep one in the war wagon for all kinds of sweet destructive tasks!

Adios,

Nice review, but the video... holy cow.  I was watching this video and my wife was sitting next to me... her reaction was hilarious, what are you watching, why is that guys whacking that 2x4? "what the heck?"

Travis you made it farther into the video than I did.  I kept fast forwarding the video, thinking to myself, "self, there's gotta be more to this video than this dude whacking away at that wood."  That was not the case.... I feel "dumber" now  Wink
