Parma R&GC Patrol Shoot
« on: November 04, 2007, 06:45:04 PM »
This is from Longbow at the Parma Rod & Gun Club:

Saturday the 10th of Nov we are doing another PATROL Shoot.

If you have shot this in the past and want to do so this weekend just shoot me an email (njg308@fmtc.com)so I can put you down. If you have never shot one but would like to, give me a call. 541.212.2882 or nights at 208.452.4183.

This will be run as a FIVE man team event. One shooter will be a sniper. The sniper will have around 30 shots to fire from atop the hill west of the Patrol pit area. I think the furthest shots will be in the 700 yard range and then into around 500 yards. The snipers shots will be called and fire adjusted by his 4 man team on the ground. Certain movements by the teams can not be completed until the sniper shots are completed. Contact with between the sniper and the team will be via radio.

The four man teams will use standard fire and movement drills. Travis Fisher, 15 year's in the active duty Army and LRP qualified will provide some basic training as to how this is done The teams will be broke into two, two man squads each squad will have an RO so there will be at least two RO's with the team. There will be NO shooting while on the move. All shooting is going to be done from a static position. Targets will be either rifle or handgun, mostly rifle. Each person needs a load of about 200 rounds. This will be a target rich environment using mostly
steel knock down targets. Each team will have a radio man who will work with the teams sniper.

Scoring is simply time and targets left standing or not engaged representing an additional time penalty. Teams can expect to cover about 350 to 400 yards in the event. All shooting will be from some cover position or on the ground. If a team does not have a designated sniper we will provide one. If anyone wants to just do the sniper part I am sure we can accommodate them.

You can not leave any gear on the ground or behind you. Pack it in and Pack it out.

Ammo load, 200 rounds rifle, 50 handgun. Range fee will be 20 dollars per shooter.

Depending on how many come and if we have time, we may get to run this twice. If you not shooting or the next team up then everyone is expected to help in the target reset.

We are going to do the set up on Friday starting at 12 Noon. Any who want to come out and help will be welcome.

Bring lunch, water, warm clothing and guns and ammo. Should be fun.

RG is the team covered for this event? Or do we all need to call Longbow?

We should try to make dinner (or lunch, or late lunch) at that restaurant in Nyssa. It was damn good food.

As embarrassing it is for me to say this, when I was cleaning off the .308 earlier (it was soaked in the rain) I look at the scope...It it still had the dope for the 550 yd shots and was set at 4.5x! WTF! pretty sad I didn't notice

Fun doesn't even begin to describe today!

It was awesome, ya'll should have been there to see Mr. Bruce and his partner do an almost perfect tower stage. That's 10 shot's each at 300, 42, and 600 yards. WHILE IT WAS SNOWING!!!!!!

They missed 1 shot each... And seeing the trace in a snow storm is AWESOME!!!
