Thanks, I was really hoping for just this. (A 500 or 600 yard shot) because 150 yds with a 14x scope seems "point blank" (no challenge)

Nice Job . 200 yards running with a 20X scope didnt quite feel like a gimme but I would have liked to have gotten something further that wasn't moving quite so fast .

Where were you at ? We were up above Thorn Creek this weekend and got into quite a bit of snow so I am guessing you are up similarly in elevation ?

20x fixed? ugh, that does sound rough.  This is in 39 @ 6300' per google earth.  (I need a GPS)

I had 10 does walking @ 500 yds but I couldn't put horns on any until they had reached the treeline & I thought I lost them, but for whatever reason they turned & followed the treeline I doped for 550yds I waited for him to walk into the X-hairs.

I can't get over how out in the open the gun shot makes a beautiful boom & echo, not painful even without plugs

If you still need to fill that cow tag, I did see 20 head of Elk w/ 2 bulls 5x or 6x racks

The same thing happened to me and my brother early in our hunting tenure.  Thats why I'm all about upland game now...drink all night, sleep in in the morning, throw the shotty's in the truck late morning/early afternoon, limit out on grouse and huns by 5:00, repeat as necessary.

BTW, nice one LP.

What did you discover, did the round explode or pass through him?

It did pass through.  From the video it looked higher and farther back, but I was surprised at the vitals damage.

It hit a rib square on entrance & shredded major lung. ....they seem to get really sleepy when that happens.   Bang/flop

2 years ago I had a recovery of a 300WSM that traveled through 4 vertebrae and down one shoulder...I still have that bullet

Well LP, I just showed my daughter this thread, everything was going great while she looked at the first two pictures. Then came the dead deer and everything went downhill fast.
