New Black Powder Publication
« on: October 22, 2009, 03:12:42 AM »
For anyone interested in black powder shooting, either cartridge or muzzleloading, Pedersoli is now putting out a quarterly Black Powder magazine. There's obviously a lot of plugging of the Pedersoli product line, but there's also some good information.  Here's a link to the first edition, I understand that a subscription to subsequent editions are free.

Good article on lock timing for flintlocks. I need one bad...........Baaad. I have percussion but no flintlocks. Thinking about building a Harpers Ferry 1803.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.  ~William Pitt

Yes, unfortunately flintlocks get a bad rap. A well set-up flinter is just as fast ignition-wise as most percussion guns.  We have a guy at our local range with a Lyman GPR flintlock that seems to be content with one shot every 4-5 trigger pulls.....that would sent me round the twist!! I only have two flintlocks, a .54 target rifle built by a friend of mine with a large Siler lock & a Pedersoli 'Mortimer' SB pistol. I've read bad things about the Pedersoli locks, but mine has always been an excellent sparker with great flint life.
