This trip wasn't so much for coyote hunting as it was recon. We (Spiff and I) went to Hammett and turned north and drove into the hills. it was pretty dry and mostly just desert and sage brush. There were definitly a few places along the drive that might produce coyotes. Since it was so warm we drove on. In the distance were a bunch of wind mills. I wanted to go check them out so each turn was toward them. They are fricken huge. Way bigger than you think when you see them from I-84. They absolutely dwarf my truck as you'll be able to see. Right after we left the wind mills we saw some speed goats. These are the closest I've seen to Boise. Food for thought.  We drove over to highway 20 and after a few detours we went back to Mountain Home. All in all a fun day that one day might produce a few coyotes. Maybe even a speed goat. How far from Boise is the Hammet exit Jeff? Last year we saw a bunch of the speed goats not far from the Truck stop that is halfway between boise and mt.home. I think its black canyon junction.
Those pics of the wind mills are way cool. I didn't realize they were that big.
Also what does AAR mean?

thats the stage stop black canyon is between caldwell and ontario there seem to be alot of coyotes on squaw buttee this year out side emmett |

Speed goats... hahahahaha...I like it. Yeah those wind mills are huge. A lot bigger then they look from the freeway. Great pictures.

Those wind mills get even bigger as you get closer to them my dad knows the owner of the property so we have been right next to them and almost got to go inside. I will did through my pictures later and see if I can find the ones I took standing at the base I put a .223 round on one of the bolts that hold them to the ground.

here's one of the engines (turbines?) on a flatbed truck that rolled through my hood a few months ago that i snapped a quick pic of with my cell. you can see the front of a full size ford truck in the back ground just to the left. these things are huge!  SM |

i think you're thinking black's creek. it's just past the rest stop (not the stage stop) leaving boise heading twards mt home. Black canyon (and black canyon dam) are in Emmett. SM |

Nice pics Jeff. I use to see those windmills being hauled on the interstates all the time. It's amazing how many trucks it takes to haul one complete unit, the blades are shipped complete and are the longest piece, the towers come in several sections and the engine on another truck.
Looking forward to some pics of 'yotes soon!

Thanks. There were no coyotes in the pics because it was too hot. I like it cooler than it was when hunting. Because of that we decided to just recon the area. |

I have seen them closer than that..... Take a drive out to Micron...there are usually herds of them on the east side of the plant (Columbia rd) during the winter and spring months. Dan |
