The wife drew first blood with her new rifle that I got her for Christmas last year. Yearling doe, offhand in the head at 'bout 75 yards. Somebody had wounded it earlier, gut shot, in the morning so it wasn't going anywhere in a hurry. Spotted it bedded, magpies were already on her trying to eat her alive. Good stalk and the wife made a great shot. She felt bad about shooting such a young deer, but I told her somebody had to finish it off or it was gonna suffer. Probably wouldn't have lasted thru the night. I'm headed back out for the evening hunt soon as I get all the blood off my camos.
Tell the wife she did good.Get the blood off of your camo's? I suppose you are going to take a shower too?
No shower, took a little nap. Didn't get home from work until 0230 this am and then got up at 0430 to head out so that took precedence over smellin good. Camo is in the drier now, 30 minutes and I'm gone, back to the spot where I killed my buck last year on opening day.
last years pepperoni.[attachment=1]
and I had a whitetail tag, I would have gotten a doe if I saw one. Walked way too much today and yesterday.
Tourist here too. Out of bed at 07:15. First buck down by 08:10. Cleaned and in the truck by 08:40. Second buck down, cleaned, and in the truck by 09:30. Two forked horns. Not huge, but not bad for the first time out in 23yrs!! Adios,TG
