Pics from Iraq
« on: October 08, 2009, 07:05:22 AM »
Ok, here's a few to start.  I'll keep adding as time permits.

This is one of the Army MRAP Mine Sweepers.  These run ahead of the convoys and use the big rollers to set off any mines on the shoulder of the road.  Very much needed as we often have to run into the dirt when two convoys pass each other, roads are not that wide in some areas.

This is a standard MRAP gun truck, we usually have 6 or 7 in one convoy spaced out.

OK, first truck is an FLD Army M915.

These pics are from the inside of a Mercedes Cab.  I tried to illuminate the damage with my surefire.  Notice all the holes above the ballistic curtain.

Not a whole country, but Ft Hood tank trails in dry weather have lots of limestone ground that fine.

Rumor I heard while with the 2nd Armored (first unit with M1's) at Hood was they redesigned the M1 tank air filters due to that experience.
All data is flawed, some just less so.

I don't mind if you do.  Jeff might say otherwise and it's up to him I guess?

PLEASE DO!!  If okay with Jeff and Florida Gun Nut ()...I love looking at the pictures.  I have a buddy whos best friend is a medic over there (actually a Doctor) and he forwards his picks to me all the time...I love it.

Here's a couple more, nothing fancy, just little old me and some buddies at our TTM camp at Taji.  Laying over at Anaconda again, have to wait to get my truck unloaded tomorrow afternoon and then rejoin the convoy coming in tomorrow night.

Long overdue, so here are a few pics I have taken while traveling about.  I've got some video too, I'm putting a dvd together to send to Jeff.

The Soccer field at Speicher where Saddam had the Iraqi soccer team executed.

A check point on MSR Tampa heading north to Mosul

Another check point, this guy looks like he's working hard.

There are a few of these big anti-aircraft guns positioned along the road heading north.

Warning signs outside FOB Marez in Mosul.

Some t-shirts from Balad.

Darn photobucket resized them too small on me.  I have to run back over to the mwr to upload them again so you can actually see what's in the pics, sorry guys.  :(  I'll try to do that tonight if I can sneak out of here.

All of that is probably old hat for you NGO, a walk down memory lane huh buddy?!

Well my sniper buddy in Tikrit must have a hardon for me, he took another shot at me last night on the way back to Speicher.  Got me in the passenger windshield this time, but perfect elevation with the previous shot he took that bounced off the passenger door glass from last week.

Last weeks shot:
