If you have some good sites post them in this thread.  I'll try to consolidate them in the first post.  Smiley

I have a bunch I'll add later.

Here's a new one: http://candlelantern.com/emergency.html
I have a couple of these candle lanterns and really like them.  Hang one in a cold tent/camper and it will really make a difference.  You can also get candles with the mosquito repellant (stinks a little but can be a real help).  The above web page does contain a bunch more good links.  BTW, I just sent out a request to becomes a dealer so stay tuned if you are interested in getting one or two.

Food Storage: Packing Buckets with Wendy Mae - Registration is probably required.  You should already be a registered member of Frugal Squirrels anyway.  Wink

I added the Food Storage Cooking School to the Downloads.  It looks like a great reference especially being free.  Wink

If you have a Facebook account, here is a good preparedness site.  It is Christian-based, and they have a collection of several hundred documents on topics like canning, gardening, etc.

"Do you at least have three days of food and water and a way to make fire?"

I thought I would share some survival/preparedness links that may benefit others.

The first, and best, IMO, place to go would be the people of Zombie Squad   http://zombiehunters.org/forum/ Don't let the name fool you, they use ZOMBIE as a colorful and humorous metaphor for all the bad things that can happen, fire, flood, earthquake, plague, financial ruin, civil unrest, invasion by martian undead, etc. These are some of the most level headed preppers around and they know their shit forwards, backwards and sideways. They have been at it for a long time and have a veritable thesaurus of invaluable information available for the reading.

O.k Anyone can Google 'survival' or 'preparedness' and get 253,000,000 results like:
http://www.bushcraftliving.com/

and
http://www.lds.net/forums/preparedness/

and
http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/

and
http://www.theplacewithnoname.com/blogs/klessons/index.html

These are all good, but honestly I do not see that they add much to what you will find at Zombie Squad.
There are one or two notable exceptions that, while they cover much the same stuff as ZS and others but with a slightly less 'sane' perspective, do so in a much less PC way and therefore get into some of the 'grittier' (dirtier) aspects of keeping you and yours alive.

http://www.pssurvival.com/  (not a forum) is probably the best of those types.

Another is http://forum.prisonplanet.com/ (is a forum)

The more tools I have in my head the less tools I will need on my back.

Man, these two links are incredible!  I was overwhelmed at the number of files (about 4,000) and the total size of the archive at pssurvival.com.

+1 on Zombie Hunters

+1 on PSSI! (holy shit-there's a lot of info there!)
[ETA]   If you want to just download the full site, go straight HERE

If you've spent any time surfing survival and preparedness boards, you've probably heard of the books "Where There Is No Doctor" and "Where There Is No Dentist".  You can download them for free and get updates when they revise it from the Hesperian Foundation
