Patrol shoot
« on: October 03, 2009, 09:30:05 AM »
Looking at the Parma's website next month is the Patrol shoot....Now to find some ammo......
Lots of other events going up......
Looking forward to long range classes.........Ringing steel past 500yards....... Priceless.....
Have shot my M1A to 840yds, AR past 750yds and Bolt guns at 2235yds 408 cheytac....Yes hits one shot.
Would not have been possible if the instruction from Parma's people had not helped....
Long range to me before was 250 -300 yards......Many Thanks to Neill and Rocky for their help...

The 408 was a part of a class that the Cheytac people put on
up at Arco, Idaho a couple of years ago it was a LE class...
At five dollars a shot then unaffordable and still now the same .....

You're still a lucky dog! I've wanted to get my hands on one of those ever since the movie "Shooter"
Time to start thinking of potential teams. Anybody got any insider info on what the Patrol Shoot will be all about this go round?

Idea... not a clue... that's the great thing about the patrol shoots. Sometimes they are night, sometimes they are long, long, long... sometimes they are a 3 gun, sometimes you go through a lot of ammo, oh you do that all the time!

Part the fun is never knowing what your getting into! Whatever it is, it is sure to be good, fun, and kick your butt!

Can't wait!

Yup, you need a EBR (Evil Black Rifle of your flavor) a side arm of some sort, about 200 rounds or so, usually more, and the willingness to be motivated by some of the most creative language known to man kind. ;D

10 to 30 minute course of fire that runs your legs off, see you shooting more rounds through your gun that you do during a range visit, and tests your gear and equipment to extremes in a SHTF kind of scenario.

Sometimes at night, sometimes during the day. Goto to Parma's web site, (in my tag line) and goto to the photo area and take a look at previous patrol shoot pictures and videos.

Absolutly ;D

With all the hams around there, we can have life flight there in no time. Not to mention there are some trained medics that have been known to attend a few matches.

We even had a AED at the state match.

Come on out and play!

maybe.
I talked to NG last night and he hasn't drawn up a course of fire yet. He knows he wants to use the new pits because there are passageways between pits allowing different threats in different pits. In addition to battle rifle and pistol, we've used shotguns on probably 1/2 of all the patrol shoots.

OB, if the patrol shoot requires a shotgun and you don't have one, I can let you use my 1100 Tactical. I'll use my Saiga (which is what I'd use anyway).

Don't know, schedules to out that far in the future, but if I had to guess, I'd say no. I may be able to trade somebody a shift though. I'll work on it for sure. I'd hate to miss all the fun!

I have a saiga too, just no mags and no ammo.  Just curious if it requires a shotgun, as one doesn't make much sense in a patrol setting

MOUT-that's all I gotta say. Makes sense to me. Spiff, I'll use that scatter gun if I'm able to go this fall.

Sounds good!

OB, we can get your Saiga rock'in if you want. I've got enough mags, etc. for two.

Besides, we don't even know if shotguns will be needed. Hopefully they will........ ;D

Maybe, but I do understand the clubs reluctance at having holes shot in their (expensive) steel targets by AR's blasting away at 20 yards!

I'd be willing to take that bet!!  :duel:  I'll bet you a guy can clear a whirly gig at 10 yards with a shotgun faster than he can with an AR!!  Much less aiming involved!!!   ;D

I have to agree with not shooting holes in the steel....
Pistol or shotgun and the shotgun is faster........If you shoot the right direction....
moving targets a challenge and fun........
