Who is gong hunting where this year?
« on: October 02, 2009, 08:09:28 AM »
Hey guys I am thinking about a day trip or two this season since I can't afford any time off work for it this year. Where is everybody going to hunt, and why?

Ima try to go out on a Fri/Sat once or twice.  Fucked if I know where to get anything though.  Only way to get them I know of is to hit them on the highway or shoot em at night.  (not that I've ever taken "game" that way)
You know what I think?  It don't really matter what I think.

If I get a chance to escape town during deer season (rifle) I'll be meeting a friend of mine deep out in the Owyhee's for some forked horn hunting.  Closer to Nevada then Boise...otherwise, chuchar hunting in various near-by spots (or up at Brownlee Resevoir)

If I get a chance to get away it will be on a sunday out in the owyhees for a fork. Don't even know if I will get that chance. Probably end up getting to shoot some pop cans again :'(

Evening of the 10th I'll be heading over to Glenn's Ferry area, working the night of the 9th so gonna miss opening morn-gotta sleep sometime.  If I don't tag a booner there I'm taking off for Salmon on the morning of the 11th. Don't have to be back to work until the 21st , so got lots of time. ;D

If anyone has the inclination and patience to introduce a total noob to the area, I would appreciate the opportunity to hear information on hunting mule deer and antelope in Idaho.

I'd be up for a day trip this sunday.  ATVs to an area in 39. it's a fun little ride.   fork muleys likely, but I did pull a bigger one out in the past.  let me know.
I can't hear you over the sound of my own awesomeness.

Went up and rolled around in the Rhino today . Saw a Cow Elk on the other side of a canyon about 800 yards away and had to convince my buddy what a terrible idea it would be to start shooting at it . Snow was 8-10 inches deep at the top of the summit and it was snowing and raining the whole time . Came home and cranked up the wood stove to dry everything out .

Will be at the top end of Cottonwood Creek and Thorn Creek Butte area - head up tomorrow to set up camp and do some more scouting and glassing.  I'm really hoping my son can get his first deer this year.  They are up there... just sneeky.  Hopefully the snow won't prevent us from getting to the spot where I want to camp, but it'll be fun (and cold) anyway.

I'm going for my first deer hunt in the Owyhees, areas 40 and 41 this coming Sunday.  I will be with an experienced friend who has done this for 20 plus years now.
Should be interesting

Sweet! If you see a Yellow and black Scout II out there, it's likely me...throw a wave my way.
