Filled my Doe tag about 2 1/2 hours ago and just got finished cleaning up the blood in the garage . Went to a spot we have done pretty well in the past and hiked in about 4 miles and sat on the side of a hill til the sun started going down . Was thinking this might have just been a nice hike with a gun as I was about 60 yards from where my truck was parked when I jumped 4 does getting a drink out of the creek . I had taken the shell out of the chamber so I was trying to get things in order while they were trying to get gone . They were jogging uphill and away from me so I dialed in 1 3/4 minutes of elevation (meant to dial in 1.5 my 200 yard dope but I was in a hurry) sat myself down and caught up with them in the scope . Settled in on the second one in line and dropped her . Laser confirmed it was 194 yards . Took out the top of the lungs and blew the spine in half . She rolled halfway back to the creek and I hiked up and dragged her out . The only picture I have is of her skinned in the garage with no head so I am gonna save you all the gore .
Now to find the Elk .
