Powder on the Shelves
« on: September 08, 2009, 07:10:36 PM »
Stopped in at Sportsman's yesterday and their shelves are starting to looked stocked on powder. Even have 5lb and 8lb jugs of powder. It would appear that Hodgen and Alliant are starting to pick up the pace.

Still cheaper to buy on line and in bulk, but the prices don't leave that raw feeling in the rectum when you pay for them at the counter.

Every now and then they have primers on the shelf, I've started walking in there once a week and snagging what I can, I'm in a stockpiling mode now, so you can call me a hoarder if you want.

I think the scare factor has warn off, and people aren't buying as much as they were a few months ago, and production has ramped up a bit.

I'd still like to see more primers on the shelf (mine and the stores) but at least I'm past my panic point of not having some items on my shelf.

Supply is the same.

I imagine with numbers showing more than 21% of the people being unemployed that fewer people are able to buy, so more ammo is being left on the shelf. :-\

Or they've all maxed out the credit cards as far as they're willing to go.

Just picked up 5lbs of H4831 for $20, yea that's right twenty bucks! My pops bought a 100lbs of military surplus H4831 back in '68 and now I get it for $4 per lb and he is making money on the stuff at that price (well, maybe not when you factor in inflation and all the times he's moved the stuff over the years). He still has a couple of cases that haven't been opened yet. I think I'm good on powder for the '06 for the foreseeable future. ;D

Scored a 4lb jug of Power Pistol at Sporty's today for $65. Glad I passed on the 1lb jugs at Cliffs for $25/ea.

Screw Cliff. He can stick all that powder and primers up his you know what.

I have talked to more people since December that say "people will remember that" referring to him jacking up his prices and asking 30 to 35 $ a brick for 22 ammo.  I say screw him.

Cliff runs an honest legitimate business.  Prices are high due to consumer demand.  They are high everywere not just at Cliff's shop.  Some of his items were a little pricey but he had stock when no one else did.  I'm sorry my friend but the days of $8.00 bricks of .22 are gone.  I buy my components for the best value wherever that may be found.  Sometimes it's at Cliff's and sometimes not.  There you have my two cent opinion.
