Ultimate BOV?
« on: September 08, 2009, 12:02:45 PM »
I have seen this once before I was a user here, but just ran across it again and thought it pretty cool.  All it's missing is a turret  ;)

It has to be custom made. I went to MAN's site, and they do not show this vehicle.

That one probably cost over $500,000. And it's probably not DOT approved and in some other country.

The MAN trucks are awesome.  They run the Paris to Dakaar every year and have their own class(es).  Unfortunately they really aren't available here.  I'd be happy with an M35. Maybe Bill can set me up with an affordable one..  ;)

A Sportsmobile would be a much better alternative for around here.  But until I have $60k+ to blow on one I doubt I'll ever get one.

From Craigslist

4x4 Zombie/Armageddon Survival Truck - $3500 (Albuquerque)

1976 Jeep J20 4x4 Zombie/Armageddon Survival Truck. Look we all know the end of the world is soon, so here is your chance to be PREPARED! This great running truck will be the key link to your post apocalyptic existence. 4x4 with Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear for driving around the “Mad Maxesque” landscape or driving through the deep craters left by the asteroids soon to enter our atmosphere. Unlike open top CJ’s, YJ’s, TJ’s, and soft top JK’s, you’ll be enclosed by a STEEL cabin. This should keep out swine/horse/dog/sheep flu infected zombies looking to feed on your brain. The truck has a full size bed to haul your precious cargo to your mountain bug out spot. It has a bed liner for easy cleanup should you become a zombie bounty hunter and need to haul those rotten bastards to the incinerator. There is no rust on the truck anywhere so feel free to mount up your favorite flamethrower/M2 50 cal./RPG weapon of choice. Toolbox included for extra ammo or de-contamination supplies. This truck has TWO gas tanks, one 20 gallon and one 40 gallon. You could drive from here to Wyoming barely stopping. (who knows which part of the US will be a SAFE zone by the time it’s over with). It has fresh white paint and could easily blend in with the other UN/NWO/ILLUMINATI vehicles in case you need to bust your family out of the FEMA camps. It‘s got an all black interior with black vinyl seats (easily cleaned should you s@#* yourself with your first zombie encounter). It has a 360 v8 and a T-18 4speed (not sure how that’s a benefit, but you should probable know). I should point out that it does have a couple of minor problems that need to be fixed. The speedo is broken (do you really NEED to know how fast you flattened that ZOMBIE?) the windshield is cracked (I was going to put a steel grate over it, but I was told by law enforcement that wasn’t legal (yet!)) The gas gauge is broken (dude, you have 60 gallons of gas available! Gauge, smauge) I will be no longer needing it since I’ve raised my vibration and I’ll be ascending to the 4th dimension via either astral projection or instant rapture, I’m not sure. MUST SELL BY 12/21/2012. $3500OBO or I might be interested in trade for a rocketship, time machine, or decent flying UFO or maybe dirt bikes! (Hey I’ve got two years to kill!) phone 720-2001

Did anyone notice that the pictures from the inside there were windows all around, but from the outside you didn't see one single window?  Wonder if there were more than one model of those trucks?

Speaking of BOV's, now here's one I'd love to buy, these are what escort us during convoy missions.

That is because the rear portion actually slides up revealing the windows.  If you notice in some of the pictures where there are windows the rear cab is higher.  Those MAN vehicles I watched those on SKY TV win Germany those things do a lot better than you would think off road.

LOL I remember those days.  There towards the end of my time they got the up armored HMMWVs but had problems with the engines as they couldnt handle the weight and the non rolling down windows sucked because the AC never worked in the damn things.

I got so tired of the escort thing the last couple months we bought a local car ( Whooptie Car ) and did my own driving with my translators....much safer for me and my translators...drove my bosses nuts but they say how much quicker I could get things done and just turned a blind eye.

Now sometimes if a newbee was at the gate coming back in we had to enter real slow with arms up.  Then they would see me with an AK and 9mm and freak out until they saw my ID and do a double take...and say "WTF are you crazy?" I would say "Had you fooled, didn't I"   "So don't make a scene and let us in."

After that they would see me coming and laugh and say things like "You are one crazy MF"

The last couple months I learned to blend in so we that I could go to restrants, liquor stores, shops and never raise an eyebrow.

I had a good time.

I'll throw some pics up when I can of the Humvee's we have here.  The windows slide open now and the turrets have armored canopys over them.  All the trucks, MRAPS and Humvees have jamming equipment so they can roll up on a suspected IED and jam the cell phone reception so the rest of the convoy can pass by safely.  Of course they miss some from time to time but it's pretty cool to see them in action.  The hardwired IED's are the hardest to deal with as well as the RPG's.

this would be more along the lines of what I'd consider the ultimate BOV

You know what I think?  It don't really matter what I think.

Neither of those would do me much good.

I have 405 miles to go to my BOL and a family of 5 to get there.
