I'm going just a bit north of McCall, with a buck and bull tag. Great hope for the buck, not so much for the bull, but a cow tag for that area would be a totally different season all together.

We're hoping to use one of these:
For some reason, I thought of LP when I saw it.

need another warm body? or, want some company? My trip up around Riggins reveiled one thing, one needs horses to pack anything out as low as they are this year. Hence, I came home early.

Unit 32 north of Emmett : Well my hunting season AAR is a sad tale of woe and sorrow. First I tried to use the Mauser I sportered just for the novelty factor and after punching three holes in the air around a nice little three point I gave that rifle up for lent (early I know) then I grabbed my dad's 25-06 remmy (famous last words as I was already running late) "Don't worry son it's already sighted in!" with the adjustable objective lens hitting the too high rear sight screw the bullet hit 3 feet low on yet a larger three point. ARRRRGHHH Run back to town remove scope-remove screw-replace scope-reload another box of shells-redope. READY!!! Find third three point buck just after hunting partner says LOOK! so being the ethical hunting buddy I hunker down and get a good rest to back up partner. I get a pinpoint sight right in the breadbasket and wait for the boom to do him in, I wait, I wait, I wait and watch mr buck step back over the hill and then onto private property. Hunting partner couldn't get a steady rest and didn't fire but neglected to hand off primary shot to me. Maybe I'll head up north for a late whitetail................ All in all I saw more antlers this year than for many years previous and twice waited for a larger buck to step from behind a smaller buck to get a shot. Curse my own pride and stupidity for not bringing home the meat this year.... oh well just one more donation to F&G.
