Remington 700 adl ???
« on: August 22, 2009, 12:29:25 PM »
Can any kind of muzzle brakes be put on a rifle? Does the barrel have to be threaded? Can anyone point me in the right direction on where to find more input on this? This is all new to me. Thanks :)

Yes, and yes.  The Vias muzzle brake is pretty popular and you can see them on the Brownells website.  You'll need a gunsmith that can do the work.

You can usually get a barrel threaded for just over 100 bucks, cut n crown 150.
That will be needed for most muzzle break ideas.
PM if you need details.

Why not just go down to HTG, have VAIS do the work? (as he is the one that invented it?)

I thought George had retired and shut down.  Is he still running the shop?

Isn't he moving back to greece? Last I heard he was and a friend of mine from Grandview is going to buy his business from him. Any of you know the bird farmer down in Grandview?

I believe he plans to retire this year, I don't know if he has set a date... I know he is still working.  George is the one that designed the VAIS brake, he also builds suppressors etc.  I take my guns to him....
