Sight in hight

 How far from center do zero your rifle for hunting.
Some say at 1" others at 3" at a 100 yard target.
 Whats a good distance.

what round are you shooting?  I used to sight in 30-06 1" high at 100 yards to make it more or less zero'd at 200.  You'll have to check the ballistics chart for the round you are shooting, and figure where you want it zero'd in at.  Sighting in at 100 for a 200 yard zero is done because you are too lazy to walk the extra 200 yards each time to check target, or you don't have the range needed to shoot an actual 200 yard target.
You know what I think?  It don't really matter what I think.

I zero mine at 200 . I also keep aScope dope chart in my flip up scope cap  that I update with my Exbal program and data collected closer to the hunting site . This year I got all fancy and put one of the actual "Scope Dope" charts in it but a round piece of paper taped in your scope cap or a larger piece on the side of your rifle works just as well .
