Thureon Defense 9mm carbine
« on: August 07, 2009, 06:24:01 PM »
A friend's brother manufactures these carbines and he'll be getting a couple here in a week or two.  Anyone interested on taking a look?  I'll probably have the opportunity to bring one to a pizza night, either taken-down or left in the car so we don't have issues at IPC.

EDIT: I'll have one of these at pizza 8/20.

I wouldn't mind seeing one but the 9mm thing isn't much of a turn on.  ;)

I'd be more interested in a .45 version, or a 45 pistol version that accepts c-mags.

That looks like something that my nephews would love to have at the range.

I'll try to get more info. I should be able to get my hands on one pretty soon now. I've been told this is the production model, but he welcomes feedback. I'll bring up a .45 version, mag type, group discount, etc and pass on what I hear.

something that accepts a cheap and common large capacity mag would be cool, with a threaded barrel to accept suppressors.

Here are all the answers from the manufacturer:

It takes any magazine that is compatible with the Colt 9mm carbine.  However, some work better than others.  We supply the carbines with 1 magazine, a modified Uzi 32 rnd. steel mag.  Additional magazines are available from us.

We are working on the .45 ACP version right now.  (and working with ProMag to develop the accompanying magazine)  We will have the .45 ready for the 2010 SHOT Show in Vegas.

The barrels are threaded for our proprietary flash hider.  The threads are 9/16 - 18.  That doesn't match anything normally used in the industry, but it works well for the 9mm barrels.  A silencer manufacturer can usually adapt their product to fit whatever barrel thread that the customer needs.  In the future, we will be offering suppressed carbines and integral suppressed barrel assemblies.  We will also be making “SBR” style carbines.  (Short Barreled Rifle)

There are no quantity discounts, just dealer discounts.  We are keeping the cost to a minimum, and are only selling "dealer direct".  That way we don't have to pay the distributor's mark-up, too.

We will need the dealer’s FFL on file and will ship pre-paid or COD.  Credit terms will be offered when we have established a working relationship.

Well, Beta makes a C-mag for the Colt 9mm so that might work.  :)

I don't like the oddball threads.  :(

It would be an interesting SBR/Suppressed combo.
Wonder if he would switch to a 9/16-24 thread, hate to use an adapter if I can help it.

I should be able to make pizza, yes.  I don't have word yet on whether I'll have one to bring this Thursday for show and tell, but I'll post here as soon as I know.

I don't think I'll have it by tonight.  When I originally talked to my friend, he said he should have a couple in a week or two.  That was just about a week ago so it should be soon but I have not heard that they have shown up yet.

I am picking one of these up tonight and should have it at pizza tomorrow night for inspection.  We'll figure out an appropriate way to check it out for anyone who is interested.

With our new room, just bring it in a rifle case and we'll close the partition.
Due to the actions of the offender...

That should work.  We can now park on the west side and walk right into the room.  However, before bringing a rifle in lets talk to Matt (shift lead) and make sure he's OK with it.

Hey, we know almost nothing about what happened.  Remember, we are innocent until proven guilty.  The Idaho Statesman article isn't proof.
