QuickLoad anyone?
« on: July 12, 2009, 05:12:22 PM »
I need to start working some loads in 7mm BR and want to get some starting points.  Anyone have QuickLoad?

Thanks.  I've never been there.  But they don't list the bullets and powder I'm interested in.  I know QuickLoad guesses at what might happen given different bullet and powder combinations.

I'm interested in the Barnes 120gr TTSX and the Nosler 150gr BT.  I'd like to see if there is any way to use Lil' Gun, Benchmark, Xterminator or 748.  Notice that I'm more interested in a hunting style bullet than something to just punch paper.  So, terminal ballistics do matter a lot to me.  Meaning that decent velocities much be reached.  Of course, I'm going to use this load in a short barrel (less than 16") so it's even more important than normal.

It looks like I can get Lapua 6mm BR brass and neck it up so the brass should be good.  But I'll also want to add the case capacity into QuickLoad to help get more accurate data.

I don't mind working up a load.  I really just want to make sure that I start at a safe place and that the powder I use has a chance to push the bullet to a decent speed.

That's awesome.  How about 120gr TTSX and/or 120gr Nosler BT.  Maybe Lil' Gun too?  Thanks for the help!

BTW, I can't find any bullets less than 120gr.  I have the 120gr XTP and BT in my Graf's cart.  I think if I can keep them above 2200 fps that they should work great on coyotes and other varmints.  ;)

Doh!  I overlooked those at Graf's.  They even have some in stock.

Jeff

I made a few more this morning and I used a 10” barrel for the entire list.
Take a look at them and give me more info and I can tweak one for you.
