« on: June 21, 2009, 07:11:44 PM »
Working on some loads for a friend who has a M1A and wants to shoot
some 155gr bullets in it. Any information would be a help, have to keep the
psi around 50,000 or 41,000 cup unit....

Personally I would trade those 155's off for some 168gr. SMKBT.

Not exactly what you're looking at, but I've got a Rock River LAR-8 that I put together a load of 150gr Hornady SP over 46.2gr of Varget to get started with.  I was happy with the 5 shot groups I got for soft points, .578".  Right around 3000FPS and pressures supposedly very close to 50,000.  They do a real number on Whistle Pigs and 'Chucks.

I had some 168gr Nosler HPBT Customs come in and I got some very nice groups (for me) during my ladder test with 44.2 gr Ramshot TAC on Saturday.  Only one 5 shot group at that load and it was .447".  The other four loads ran from 1.75" down to .75".  I've loaded up some more at 44.2, 44.3 and 44.4, to see where the velocities are.  I didn't have any pressure signs whatsoever at 44.2 and Ramshot lists 44.5 with 165gr Sierra HPBT's as max.  So we'll see how things look around max.  I think that these pressures are going to be a bit higher than what you're looking for tho.
