Hey guys,

I found this package rifle, scope, bipod and case. Assembled, zero'd and ready to go for just under $1000.00. I ran it buy Spiff and in his ever humble opinion, he thinks it might be a good deal.
What say you?

It looks OK but I'd pass.  You're going to want a better scope.  I have one of them and while it's a pretty decent scope I'd want a better higher power scope.

I don't like the bipod much.  The Harris with the notches and swivel is what I prefer.

The stock is probably OK but you want to make sure that you like the feel.  I'd rather save up and get a McMillan or Manners.

I don't know much about the Howa but I'd get a Rem 700.  Mostly because it's the most popular (must be for a reason right?) and the parts availabilty.

If you just want a cheap way in I'd suggest getting a Savage 10fp or 12 varmint and building it to fit you and your style.

I have been talking with a couple of Speed Steel shooting buddy's of mine and one has a Remington 700 and another has a 10 series Savage. So I'm gonna take the time to shoot both before I decide.
