The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.

He is just ahead of where many people in this country are headed...

Wait until you find out their are people who have figured out how to reload primers....

Just one of those bits of information you may want to keep in the back of you mind in the days ahead.

I just watched a vid about that very thing.  Someone has figured out you can scrape the white tips off of strike anywhere matches and use it to reload primers.  Remove the anvil, flatten the cup with a star-head or hex driver, fill, and press.  Takes about 10 matches per primer, it's a painful process, and it's corrosive but he successfully got it to ignite in a .45 case.

I've reloaded 45 and 9mm ammo in steel. It does work harden faster than brass but you can do it a time or two. I've not done rifle in steel yet - but would not hesitate to do it. Might be a good thing for shoots where the brass is lost - like patrol shoots -

Matches in primers is an old one. Indians, during the indian wars, could not get ammo and reloaded their own. Often taking the shells found on dead troopers apart and splitting the powder to get two rounds out of one. They would get the heads of matches wet and make a soup - then put it in the primer cups and just priot to hardening push the anvil in.

I have seen that trick done on 45-70 cartridges.

I've heard of people over at GT reloading steel cases more times than brass because it doesn't flex or expand quite as much. I'm not sure if I would do it myself, but it works without a doubt.

Wastes half his time.
All data is flawed, some just less so.
