Izhmash rifles?
« on: May 03, 2009, 07:57:08 AM »
Looking for a good accurate .22LR bolt action rifle for the wife and the  Izhmash biathlon basic was recommended to me.  Anybody here have some experience with one of these that they'd like to share?

They are nice little rifles, they shoot great (as accurate as you are), trigger is nice, one of the other users shot mine once and went out and bought his own.  The rifle is the most accurate I have shot for it's weight (they are fairly light weight).  If you want to shoot one I can meet at Impact.....

The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.

I don't know what kinda $$ you are planning on spending but the savage .22 heavy barrel target rifles are pretty sweet and about $230 new. I glass beaded mine and injected weight into the stock... no kidding it shoots less than moa at 50yds.
FJ are you coming to the LRTRF match in Parma on the 9th (next Sat)? I'm sure there will be a wide assortment of .22s to look at.

I have one. It's a delight. 10 shots (yes 10!) in one ragged hole at 50 yards with bulk ammo. A few weeks ago at the range in Emmett I had 4 out of 5 touching at 100 yards. How many .22 rimfires will do that? Last Saturday I was tagging whistlepigs out to 150 yards with it. Not every shot mind you, but still, 150 yards? I cant do that with my custom barrelled 10/22 anywhere near as easy.

Cliff over at Cliff's Safes sure was right about these guns- oh and a friend of mine bought one after shooting mine too. Accuracy is addicting!

That is were I got the initial recommend.  Wife works there.  Cliff offered to let her shoot his for an egg shoot.  I'm seriously leaning towards buying one when sufficient funds become available.

Where to get one and how much are they going for?
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

Cliff's, $429.  I think he's got them listed on his Guns America site too.
