Is there anyone that can recommend a reputable, local 1911 'smith? Someone who specializes? I need some reliability tuning on a Colt.
Thanks

See if you can get ahold of Dean Barton . TGibson might have his contact info . He did all my work when I shot IPSC and he only worked on 1911's and AR's from what I remember . He is a really nice guy and did great work for a reasonable price .

There are very few good 1911 smiths about now days.
I'd give you mine, but I know how busy he is.
However, I know one that does awesome work for some fellow Instructors who also shoot 1911's.

He's out of Pocatello but hey... you gotta go to who does the work. I know he's here from time to time to teach at POST. Give him a call.

Clint is a good guy. He and one other guy are the Master fire arms instructors for the State. The last time I was at training with him he shot the state handgun qual next to me. He shot 100% while holding the gun up side down. Had him do some work on my Dad's old S&W Model 18-4 that means a lot to me. The only other people I would trust with it is the shop at S&W. Easy to talk to and pays attention to detail.

Since you are using this site as a resource, maybe you should consider supporting the companies who support the site. There is one good smith who is actually a dealer here. Try this guy
