Trying to Order Primers is a Sick Joke
« on: April 11, 2009, 10:41:58 PM »
WTF...

NEVER seen it like this...even durring the Monica Blewinksy years.

Glad I got what I have...but I want to get some more....can never have enough primers...

Stopped at Cliff's today and they were a tightly rationed item...didn't even have what I wanted...

He wanted $25 for a brick of .22....the hell with that as well...rather stake out the WallyWorld.

Thank Butthead >:(

Until .22 comes back in stock. $25/brick is a decent price, if in stock.

I haven't heard or seen any .22 at any Wallyworlds in a while. At least in bricks... they have the 100 round packs for like 8/per package.

Big 5 had some .22 bricks for $20 about 3 weeks ago. I bought 10 bricks in Utah for $20per again 3 weeks ago.

Cliffs has the only known supply of .22 in the valley right now, that I am aware of. So I wouldn't jump on his case about the price of .22's.

Primers - Yeah, I want more and can't find any! Anywhere!!!

Now, what I would jump all over Cliff about is the price of his powder. It's outrageous. He want's $180 8lb jug of titegroup. WTF? I can mail order it, and it's in stock for $118, pay shipping, hazmat and still come out ahead.

All of the 1lb jugs are like $30 there, and none of the online places that have powder in stock have jacked their prices. He says the manufactures have raised the price. BS... if that was true, prices would be up at online retailers... there not.

In Cliff's defense, some of those powders he bought in CA while he was there from retail stores and is trying to recoup what he paid for them.  And, it's not the mfgs that raised their prices its the wholesale suppliers who are taking advantage of (probably have a hand in it too) this shortage!

So did they just raise the price for Cliff? Because I don't see the price increase anywhere else except for Cliffs?

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY is charging $180's for Titegroup... and it's readily available. In fact, I just checked. It's now $101/8lb jug at a powder wholesaler, Graf's is even less at $98 and in Stock! And RE15 is $18.95 where he is $30.

What's up with that? I love going in there, and I really want to buy things from him... but I won't get screwed on powder when I can get it elsewhere for a lot less. I love the fact he's got a bunch of Dillon stuff, usually ok on bullets for handguns, and nice to have a guy that knows what's up when you have reloading questions. I've even bought a few guns from him. Has XDm mags in stock and I buy one every paycheck now, and even has Wilson 47d's in stock. and they are priced normal. AR mags are little high priced, but the powder is just way out of whack with what's available.

Brian,
I'm not saying it's right, I'm just passing on what I've been told.  I recognize that the prices are a little out there too.

Go to cabelas website and backorder them . 2-3 week backorder on Magtech SR primers 1-2 week on CCI BR-2 . You can probably get them shipped to the Boise store and save the Haz-Mat fee .

Primers are out there - you just have to look a bit. And the prices in ANY store right now are gouging prices. Cliff has always been high on his products but that's the way it is.

It's called profiteering and we have all done it -

They were powders that were unavailable from his wholesale sources.

Cliff can charge what he wants...
His business his pricing....

Cliff makes a good effort to keep stuff in stock...
And he usually keeps a nice selection of S&W revolvers ;D

As for me, I'm going to do what's best for #1...

So I'll be patient and get on a waiting list for some....I don't need them right away ;D

Not saying he can't do what he wants, and in fact, I'm not sure anyone could convince him to do anything other than what he wants  ;)

He treats my kids nice, gives them free targets to shoot. His wife is great to work with, and makes it easy for my wife to shop there. The guys at the store are great. I'd even pay the $4/100 for primers if they were in stock...

Just wondering out loud why the discrepancy in the powder pricing, when most everything else he has is priced ok with the market.

Primers... back on topic... start singing out when you guys see them start hitting the shelves. It's about the only thing I can't really improvise on in reloading.

Have done business with Cliff for several years, you may save on some loose on others
what it boils down is stuff is hard to get and people in the system know that so from
maker to shelf prices change now more than ever.....
ADK is doing their best loading for a WAR and trying to keep the shelves stocked....
Now order a AR and see a 4-6 months on a waiting list, all those want to buy bullets,
powder and primers a million plus to include us........

Hey guys I'll warn you about Cabellas, I ordered there a week or so ago with them claiming a 2-3 week back order. I have one friend who ordered two weeks ago, still no primers. I have another friend who bought 6 weeks ago... With the same 2-3 week back order promise, and he still hasn't gotten his primers.

I understand if you buy there, and frankly getting on the list is better than paying $350 for a couple thousand primers, but I figured I'd warn everyone out there not to count on that 2-3 week order.

If anyone knows where I can get 2000 or so small pistol primers for a reasonable price, let me know... Thanks zac.
No, I know exactly what I'm doing, I just have no clue what effect it will have!

Cliff's just got some primers in today. I believe small rifle?
