Cornelius Ryan was the shit when it comes to writing history. "The Longest Day" (About D-Day), "A Bridge To Far" (Operation Market Garden) and "The Last Battle" (The battle for Berlin). Were all excellent. The Last Battle was actually completed by his wife because he died just before he finished it.  :(  Kind of fitting I guess when you consider the name of the book.

ETA: That is unless your talking about another movie called the longest day!!

Shane's a good movie (the book is better tho). However I find the kid in it to be irritating. He also plays John Wayne's son in "In Harms Way".

Your're right, I remember the name but never connected the dots.  Wow, he sure looked different as a kid and a young man.  BTW, In Harms Way is one of my favorite WWII movies.
