This sounds like a great time to get together and meet a few of you guys (and GALS I guess) but if I remember correctly I think there are some shooting restrictions down at Swan Falls the last time I was there you could only shoot shotguns in that area. It might change further down the road from the dam?  I know some great spots out in the Owyhees that are pretty secluded and really cool. Lots of space to camp right next to a nice little creek and a short hike away from a sweet waterfall!

OK, I need info on those locations.  ;)
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news...But, that whole area near swan falls is a no-shooting area other then shotguns, due to the Birds of Prey conservation designation they did back in the 90s.  Check on the blm's website for details (there's a map) There are a few loop holes in specific areas, but not along the river as far as I've seen.

Okay but please remember that some of us do not have 4-wheel drive / off-road type vehicles!
All data is flawed, some just less so.

I know you have to be careful where you are shooting and what you are shooting at, but Grimes creek is close easily accessible and is a cool place to camp. I have been able to take my little Cobalt out there to meet people and stay for the weekend, and if someone is willing to go out there a couple days early and round up a couple of the larger spots you could keep the social part to that area and people who to stay overnight can find there own spot. 4-wheeling is allowed, we can shoot, fire restriction shouldn't be a big deal yet, plenty or trees trails and water. Just a though.

I'd be up for the Grimes Creek place, as lond as the roads aren't too washboardy and muddy.  I have just a passenger car.

grimes creek rd is just off the main highway to Idaho City and the Camping spots are just off of the small road (yes its paved) that takes you back into Grimes Creek..

Alright so here is the LOW down, pending finding out when the hunter safety course takes place June, 6, 2009, at Swan falls, we will be finding out more, this is geared towards being a family affair, so bbq, hanging out, and then camping, this is not geared towards just shooting we are wanting to get people together and getting to meet, shooting can take place at a location yet to be deterimened.

will be calling down to idaho power to ask about reserving on monday, and with the other camping/shooting thread i think that alleviates the issue of shooting involved with the event, if you wanna go on sunday somewhere or go before thats fine and dandy, but it was brought up and i am in agreement with that the guns and alcohol need to be left seperate.
