175 SMK's and TAC
« on: July 13, 2007, 06:38:34 PM »
I got the load data from LTRDavid's site.  He was shooting 44.5 of TAC, 175 SMK's, LRM primers through his LTR.  Well, my starting load was 44.  And it was too hot.  Cratered primers.  And some (3-4 out of 10 I chrono'd) were hard to extract.

I've decided to leave TAC for the lighter bullets.  I think it must be a faster burning powder because the recoil was noticeably harder (kicked like a mule) than the same load using RE15.  It was also slightly slower than the RE15 load which was surprising.
Q: What was the most positive result of the "Cash for Clunkers" program?
A: It took 95% of the Obama bumper stickers off the road.

I think we need to give Varget, 4895, IMR 4064 and IMR 3031 a try. My M1A frick'in loves 3031.

Whatever you don, never use TAC in a Garand...it just does not agree with it.

It works great in .223 though ;D
