Alpha-Omega?
« on: March 12, 2009, 02:09:38 PM »
So for the first time in my life, I went into "Alpha-Omega" gun shop in Nampa.   What is up with the sign on the door that says "No Glocks sold, fixed bought, traded, etc..." ? Did they have a run-in with Glock, or are they just that anti-Glock?
Anyway, speaking of signs, they also had a pretty elaborate sign about not bringing ANY loaded or concealed guns inside. Oh well, their store, their rules.
So this big lumberjack looking dude politely asks if he can help me. I said "do you carry any GG&G stuff?". His answer was "never heard of'em, what do they make?". I replied "AR parts, do you carry any aftermarket AR parts?", He says "Oh yeah, plenty of them" and walks me over to another part of the store.  I see shelves of knockoff Chinese and airsoft replica stuff. All their optics were Tac-Star, and that other fake repo stuff.  I told him thanks anyway and mentioned I was going to wander around for a bit to see if anything catches my eye.  After a few minutes, I noticed the guy literally following me around with the world's worst attempt at trying to be not noticed.  It didn't take me all of two minutes to determine this guy thought I was going to shop-lift the entire store.
Please tell me I simply misunderstood the way my first visit went.

I don't normaly talk crap. But this is how they are. I went asking about the springfield XDM in 9mm, the guy you are referring to is the owner. Anyways he told me the springfield rep just left and they weren't going to make the xdm in 9mm. Kind of confused me until I picked up the new handguns magazine and say an ad in it for the XDM in 9mm. The owner thinks he knows all. He tried to tell me that my GLock 23 was gonna kaboom on me. He thinks that glock owners are a joke. He actually told me that. Other then the fact that he carries HSM 10mm ammo I would never set foot in that joke of a store again.

Oh and kind of funny I have a XDM in 9mm now. I have thought about taking it in there and showing him. Lol but it isn't worth my time.

Ok rant over.

I've bought a few pieces/parts through them and they know me by sight now, and they still follow me around.  The Grizzly Adams you met is the owner.  They do that with pretty much everybody.  I'm sure they've had their share of stuff walk off on 'em and with a couple lower receivers hanging by a zip tie, I'm guessing there could be a real liability issue there.  They can be a bit rough at times, but when I need a $5 part and the only option is to pay $10 shipping and wait 2-3 weeks, I'll put up with their quirks, and high prices.  It's a good to have place if you really, really need it now.

Yeah they always follow Romo and I. We figured it was because we're young.

Went in just after the election and the owner was talking about on the coming ban on ammo which was going to be an executive order.

Interesting guy... I've got nothing against them. But they do make you feel distrusted. He did mention he'd been shot a few times last time I was by there.

I will not go in that store ever again.  The following me around is bull shit and the NO LOADED GUN sign even applies for concealed carry.  I also get a little tired of spec-op warriors stories.

I used to go in there quite a bit and even bought a few guns from Alpha-Omega.  The guy or one of the staff will always follow you around the store.  Kind of weird, but okay...then I was in there about 2 months ago, and there was another customer looking at a rifle on the wall- long story short, the owner came flying out to the lobby yelling at the guy claiming he bumped the gun.  I could not believe how rude the owner was and how beligerant he was after the customer apologized several times.  I personally was turned off and have not been back since.  There are lots of gun stores in the valley with better service, and I can buy parts online for less $.  IMO

Yeah, followed around. I was wondering about that. It seems normal for the store, so I'll just get used to it.

They do seem to be the only ones to have much milsurp stuff available, but maybe I'm the only one here that looks at old Mausers and such. Oh, and cases of ammo as well.

And prices are a tad high for some things but like was mentioned, shipping ...

Their store in on the way to my work so I have stopped in there a few times. I haven't noticed anyone following me around, but maybe I don't look like a criminal like you all do  ;). They are a bit quirky and often overpriced, but it's hard for me to drive by so many guns every time I'm going to and from work and not stop every once and a while to check them out.

Ive been in there a few times just to check things out. He is right there on you. I went in there a couple of years ago, and was asking about HK91's. He had a Cetme and PTR(Hk Clones). He promptly told me that HK was crap and if I wanted a real gun to get a PTR. Ive found that if he doesnt sell it, its crap, but he has something to replace it.

You did not misunderstand - it's who they are. And as far as no guns - I carry everywhere.

I saw the owner threaten to mop the floor with a dude at a gun show once, but in his defense the guy was excessively fingering an brand new XD 9.
Other then that their prices seem a little too high for me. I'm not paying $600 for a WASR, I don't care what camo scheme you paint it.

That would be fun.  We could just all walk around the shop with out actually stopping to look at anything until he makes us leave.
