Kahr CW9093
«

Anyone have experience with the Kahr CW9093? With the warmer weather threatening to come back, my wife is looking for something thinner than the Glock 26 she already has. It's hard for her to conceal under summer clothes. She used to have a Kel-Tec PF9, which was a perfect size but hard to practice with for any length of time. It looks like the Kahr is only .02 wider than the PF9. Any feedback you can share on the CW9093 as far as quality, accuracy, comfort, etc?

I used to carry a PM9. It shot well and I never had any problems with it. The grip was a bit short (I believe the CW9093 has the longer grip frame, so that shouldn't be a problem). While the Kahr is certainly thinner than the Glock, that's not saying very much (My wife has a 26).
Currently I carry either a Rohrbaugh (Which I got cheap on clearance from Impact) which is really small. Shoots great, but it's hard to find one, they are pretty expensive normally and takedown is a huge pain. Good "carry a-lot, shoot a little gun".
Recently I picked up a Walther PPS and it's great. Super thin and it has kind of a "triangular" profile that makes it fit in a pocket really well. The trigger is of the same type as the Glock but I think it's a bit better. My gun is 100% reliable, though it did have some trouble with the trigger return until I broke it in. (Sometimes the trigger safety, which is the same as the Glock design, will catch on the frame if you hold the trigger back during firing. If you employ the "pull and release" trigger technique than it's a non-issue)
Other thin, guns I have carried include the Kimber RCP II (Groups were amazing considering it has only a "gutter" for sights) but it's condition 1, which some people don't like, especially in a pocket gun. I would also take a look at the Para LDA guns if you like 1911's. I have a couple and the triggers are very nice and they are thin as well.
Let me know if you need any follow-up info.

Thanks for all that info. Actually, I'm not limiting to just the Kahr, but I'm trying to look for something that A) is good quality, B) concealable under ladies summer clothes, C) about the same price as a G26 since we'll likely be trading or selling to buy a replacement with little/no extra cost.
The Kel-Tec was the perfect size as I said, but it hurt to shoot it too much. The G26 looks like a brick in the pants when she wears a well fitting tank top. The Walther looks like it might be a good alternative but I'd have to see one.

I carry a PM9 all the time. it is nice in the summer because it's a lot easier to conceal then my G19 and it makes a great BUG in the winter.
I know they are more spendy then say a keltec, but when you shoot/handle one, you'll know why.

When I was at Front Sight a few weeks ago, I asked a couple members of the staff what they thought of the Kahr pistols. They had the overwhelming opinion that they are overpriced pieces of junk. There has yet to be one single Kahr make it to lunch of the third day of a 4 day class. The approximate round count at that time is around 500 rounds.
I asked what they thought of the Kel-Tecs in that same size (PF9 and P11) and they were in favor of those guns. Now they did recommend frequently coating with Break Free CLP and finding some sort of protective finish as the Kel-Tec finish is rust prone.

I've probably got close to 1K through my PM9 and it has NEVER failed in anyway. hell, Kahr even says to expect FTF and FTE failures in their 200rd "break in" period.
i've either fired or witnessed every round through this thing and it's been flawless since round one.
i have heard that they did have a run where there was some barrel peening issues and those can supposedly be tracked by s/n to find the suspect pistols and Kahr will repair/replace at no charge.

The early PM9's definitely had problems. The barrel problem was just one of them. A-lot of it was caused by bad quality control and fit of the plastic frames. They have done a good job of cleaning up the problems and all of the guns I have seen lately look much better.
I also have one of the all steel guns. It shoots great, but it is super "dense". It's like you have a chunk of lead in your pocket. It really needs to be in a holster.
Impact had a PPS a week or so ago, but it's probably gone by now. I got mine from Sportsman's Warehouse for $599 which I thought was a pretty good price.
You can open up a bunch of other options if she can tolerate a holster. For example, a very underrated gun is the S&W "Ladysmith" 9mm (the 9313). They are light and have a very triangular shape. I have found that this shape works really well with an inside the pants holster. The shape pulls the but of the gun tight to the body and it's very hard to detect.
Of course, my wife doesn't tolerate holsters very well due to her body shape, so she goes with the old standby of a S&W 642 in the pocket or purse.
Good Luck,

Thanks for everyone's replies, it gives me a broader list to look at. I'll have to check out some of these alternatives and have her compare them to the 26. Appreciate the input.

I have a Kahr PM9 and have had NO troubles with it. Accurate as all get out and one of the best triggers I have experienced. I carry it in a Crossbreed Super Tuck or in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster-- either way very comfortable. I also have a true Walther PPKS -- fantastic pistol-- high quality but getting to rare for everyday-- that is why I bought the Kahr. Either way-- you cannot go wrong. I also have a Glock 26-- the Kahr or the Walther are easier to conceal.

If you can raid the piggybank there is no comparison to the overall feel and trigger of this one. Slightly longer, but equally as thin, and one gets far better MV for that extra half inch.
