M7 or M9 Bayonet
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:23:48 PM »
I am looking for a bayonet for my Mossy 590. I see that it takes the same kind as used on the M-16/AR-15's. So my question is which ones will fit? I'm not too familiar with them and would like to get one but I don't want to spend the $$ only to find out that there are different fitments and the one I get isn't going to work. I am looking at the M7's on Sprotsmansguide.com as they are the best price, and they look cool too, but if it's not going to work then that doesn't mean much. They say that they are the correct type for the M-16. The M9's I know will work but they seem to be at least 2X as much.
As always I'm trolling for a bit of knowledge from this vast knowledge base that is Boise Shooters. Thanks again in advance for the info.
I don't know what your problem is, but I bet its hard to pronounce.

IDSnow,
I'd call Sportsman's Guide first (1-800-882-2962) to confirm that the M7 is compatible your Mossberg, and to inquire about their return policy in case you don't like the fit. I've seen them turn up at the local gun shows from time to time. There is another Boise Gun Show April 11/12. Of course you know that when you're looking for something - that will be the one show that none appear!
The M7 is a good bayonet, as far as bayonets go, and easier on the wallet than an M9. Another advantage: the M7 weighs less than the M9, and will be easier to swing the next time that covey of quail comes a gunnin' for you.
Hope this helps.
Stay sharp!
Jeff

Go over to "D and J Enterprises" in downtown Caldwell.  Tell Duane that Bill,Idaho sent ya. He'll have what you need. He has a couple hundred bayonets on hand.
If anyone needs any militaria, he's got it. Patches, pins, medals, insignia, etc

Any idea on prices? If not that's ok, sounds like a fun place to go check out anyway.
