« on: July 05, 2007, 11:06:23 PM »
Is .38cents a round a good price for this stuff after shipping???

Any opinions here ---

Is anyone interested splitting it up if I pick up some?

Yeah, but I used it more for plinking on my Saiga 308.  This Saiga is so bad on the brass, its not worth shooting anything with any reloadable brass.  It pinches the hell out of em.  PV74 and I tried different hand loads and it was the same result.  The brass was put to its last life.

I wouldn't this stuff on my DPMS .308 nor M1A.  I figure cheap ammo for cheap AK.

Thanks for the input though.

Man .38 cents a round still seems high.

As far as the Indian ammo goes... from what I've read and my own personal experience you want to stay away from the '90's date coded stuff.  The '70 and '80 stuff was mfg while the Brits still ran the plant.  In the '90's the Indian government took over and the ammo went to shit.

I bought some '80's dated coded earlier this year for .25 cents a round.

1K to start with.

that ammo deal I was pissed about getting screwed around on was 42 cents a round.  Usually a good deal if you can get surplus under 50 cents a round anymore.
You know what I think?  It don't really matter what I think.

My brother found some Indian ammo headstamp - ( OFV 97 08-w 7.62 ) but I have only found bad things about it.

600 rounds for $247. ( .412 cents per round)

Now I'm leaning towards buying a 1K of brass and starting from scratch, either Lupa (sp) or Silver State brass.

If I start fresh I will want good brass and at least 1K from the same lot.

You're going to want to stay away from the mil-surp ammo then if you want to reload.  Unless it's US made ammo it's going to be Berdan primed and not worth the time and expense to reload it.  Keep your eyes open for Lake City military brass or just stick to commercial US brass mfg.

I've got a bunch of .308 brass and a set of Hornady dies that I could part with if anybody is interested.  I haven't looked at the stuff in so long I don't even know who the mfg is, but if someone wants it and the dies I'll dig it out.
