Alliant Powders upcoming price increase
« on: February 21, 2009, 10:44:00 PM »
I was in Cliff's today and there's a sign, and comments from staff, that Alliant powders are supposed to go up $6. a pound on March 1.

So if you use Bullseye, Unique or any of the other Alliant stuff, might be a good idea to check stocks.

And yes, Cliff's does have lots of components but small rifle primers are short.
All data is flawed, some just less so.

I can see a marginal price increase, but $6 a pound is way out of proportion. The company prides themselves on producing affordable powder.

The law of supply and demand, demand is high ............you pay the difference.
Now would be a good time to find something else that works........

Well, at Cliff's, it more than a rumor.  I was there the other day and some of the 1 lb cans said 27 bucks.

At least he's got powder, which is more than can be said for many of the other stores around the valley.  FYI he just got a bunch of Varget in if anyone is looking.

What I can't figure out is if powder has jumped that much, why haven't the online prices jumped that much? Looking around the web, RE15 is 17 to 20 per pound, yet Cliff's is $27/pound?

I'm not saying he's price gouging, but man... that's a heck of a premium to pay for buying it local.

Just sayin...

I'm starting to get a bit annoyed with Cliff's.  He'll raise prices on everything he has in stock, even if he's had it for month's and he paid the previously lower price, just because the "new" stuff that he has to buy has had a price increase.  I'm sure there is no 'law' against this, but it sure isn't a good reflection on good customer service.  (at least to me).  I've also noticed that he'll charge people for 'promotional giveaways' that his distributers bring in, where as other shops will just give them away.  Things like hats, pins, key chains, etc.

On the other hand, he will give you all the caliber conversion parts for the Dillon reloaders, like Dillon meant it to be, whereas Sportsman's Warehouse will charge you additional for the caliber conversions.
