Tactical Rifle Team Challenge at PRGC
« on: June 27, 2007, 07:13:12 PM »
Match begins at 0700 on Saturday August 11th and 0700 Sunday August 12th .

Match is located at the Parma Rod and Gun Club in Southwest Idaho .

Cost is 75 dollars per team for both days of shooting . E-mail me at paraman1@cableone.net for a match entry form or any questions you may have .

This Match is a timed event with time based penalties for misses and Bonuses for early hits . A penalty may be assessed for anyone failing to attempt a course of fire in the spirit of its design and intent . We are trying to come as close as we can to the spirit of actual tactical operations as we can while being safe and having fun .

It is going to be HOT!! so plan and dress accordingly .

The goals of this Match are to encourage shooters to use field practical equipment that is reliable in adverse conditions and add an element of physical endurance to the competition .

Round Count at this time is 40 rounds for the Sniper weapon and 190 for the spotters weapon .Stay tuned as this may change the closer we get to the match .

The Team may decide to split up shooting however they wish as it is my belief that this is how a team would operate in the field .

Rules
1) The shooter must transport all firearms, ammunition, equipment, and cleaning supplies with them for the duration of the match from the moment they sign in the first day of shooting.
2) The amount of ammunition the shooter begins the match with, is all
They are allowed to use for the duration of the match. The shooter may
have as much ammunition in their pack, vest, or ammunition carriers as
he/she wishes.
3) Any back up guns the shooter may wish to use should their primary
firearm become inoperable during the course of the match must be
carried with them for the duration of the match
4) The equipment must be carried via any man portable means and in a
Safe manner. No wagons, wheelbarrows, carts, sleds, etc allowed.
The Team must transport all their equipment to the next stage in one
trip. If the Team fails to do this, they will be made to return to the
previous stage and walk back again carrying all their equipment in one
trip.
5) The team does not need to carry all this equipment during the
course of fire, they may ground their rucksack and use only the
equipment on their persons if they wish.
6) Teams must start with at least one liter of water on their person
or in their rucksack. Additional Water will be provided Throughout the
Match. The Team must carry any beverages other than water themselves.
7) Any food a Team wishes to eat must be carried on them . This means
not even accepting a piece of gum, candy, beef jerky, or other food
item from another competitor.
8) Any time a Team or Team Member leaves the range, he/she must check
his/her gear at the stat house where it will be secured to prevent
tampering and/or adding or removing of equipment. Shooters will check
out at the end of shooting for the day.
9) Equipment may not be ?abandoned? at any point during the match.
10) Safety equipment including ear and eye protection may be replaced if it is lost or damaged during the match.

Firearms
1) Shooters may use any firearms of their choosing however they must be able to transport any firearms (and spares) without assistance from stage to stage by themselves. There is also a caliber restriction this year of a maximum of .30 Caliber at 3100 feet Per Second **NO MAGNUMS**.We would highly recommend that you bring at least one Sniper rifle and one semi-auto spotter rifle capable of engaging targets from 25 meters to 500 meters .
2) There is no limit on magazine capacity, bipods, scopes, etc
3) If a shooter decides to carry more than one firearm, spare upper receiver, optics, etc they may elect to use them on any stage as they see fit but must be able to pack them safely .

Range Officers will be the final arbiter for rulings on any circumstances not foreseen in these rules.

We are highly reccomending that you have a sling for your weapons and a safe method of transporting them from stage to stage .

Here are some links to help you out ....

Memorize all that and then shoot a lot . Dialogue when spotting is tough and speaking the same language makes it less so . Know your Dope and how to range targets , It may come in handy .

Devin can fill you in on how to terrorize the steel ... LOL

A team including My father , some Friends and myself went out to the range Saturday and spent several hours looking over the range figuring out what we are planning on doing to you guys , I mean subjecting you to , I mean laying out the course of fire . All I can say is be ready for anything and a bit more . 4 devious minds made for some serious entertainment .

It was on stage 2? where you had to shoot out the plywood window at the 3 poppers with the red popper hostage, He went down on hands & knees for a platform so I could make the shot.  It worked great

It was a rather difficult angle to shoot given the distance from the hole to your shooting position. Ralph went prone and shot over that 60 lb pack he was lugging around (His lunch made up 80% of the weight), we used my pack on the back of the rifle.

Jeff took some pictures but when I spoke with him last night he was pretty beat . The decision to shoot through until we were done while good for the shooters was a near disaster for the Volunteers . Most of us worked straight through with no lunch and minimal downtime . Several people I spoke with had suffered from some level of dehydration , foot pain and other ailments . Next year we will not make that mistake again . I feel absolutely terrible for those who volunteered and suffered due to a bad call on our part and profusely apologize to all who volunteered .

I am sure Jeff wil post the pictures he took as soon as he gets back up to speed .

Well Mike and Steve, I've recovered from the long day of RO'ing. Please remember that we all volunteered for this gig and could've quit at any time, but now you know how dedicated we are.   ;D

Had a good time and congratulations to the teams who competed. I heard very positive comments from all of the teams. I enjoyed visiting with the teams when I had a chance.
