Comes in a plastic ($15.99 on its own) Dry case.

Haven't shot any, but looks like decent ammo.  8)

I've heard mixed reviews on it... very mixed in .223.  I never had any problems shooting their pistol stuff... but I've heard the laquer on the casings can cause problems with trying to extract regular brass, especially in tight chambers.

the problem is simple, if you shoot the wolf....... dont switch to regular brass without a cleaning. It does gum a bit. keep that in mind and its not an issue. We have blown through cases of it in a DPMS and a Bushmaster and as long as you remember that rule, no problems. any idea how much they had? (on my way at lunch to get a bunch)

The problem doesn't really have to do with the coating.  The steel cases expand slower than brass.  So, the steel cased ammo is more likely to cause some carbon buildup in the chamber.  This is OK if you just use steel cases (until you clean the chamber).  If you mix steel and brass (without a chamber cleaning) you are likely to get a brass case stuck because the chamber has some carbon buildup.

BTW, you can still get both.  ;)

This is what I've found.

It won't run in my SW MP15, stuck cases all the time.
If you keep the chamber lubed it works, but I hate to do that....
Lots of folks don't have problems at all however so.

Ive burned through at least 20k in a M16- never had a problem with stuck cases. It doesn't get cleaned either. Its all I shoot when blasting at the range and works in all my rifles form noveske barrels to the the crappy plain chrome lined stuff.

If a gun wont shoot it, then IMO its the gun not the ammo.

I have had a few with sideways primers and spilt necks, the split necks shoot fine BTW

Yeah, I have a tight chamber on the s&w. The primers flatten out on wolf in it too. I understand that most folks on AR15.com advise running 1k brass down range to wear in the barrel before using wolf.

When I posted with the stuck case problem, a fair number of folks said that they ran 1k brass through their guns before they used wolf to wear it in.

They advised that I do the same and try again with the wolf.

By the way the wolf only sticks if it's hot out. At least 80s and up.

Tried 60 rounds of PMC in my AR today (great ammo btw)

Then tried 60 rounds of this wolf, every other round failed to feed, 7 failed to extract, and 2 cases stuck.

So... what's making it different for you if when several are not having problems with the Wolf... I'd like to know as I decided to give the stuff a try myself.  I bought a couple hundred rounds but haven't shot any yet.

I've only put a couple hundred down my Kel Tec... I'm wondering if I should wait... or just give them a go and see what happens.  That sort of a price is hard to beat after pricing out other brands of ammo.  These days, every penny counts.

Now, that being said, I've been saving my brass and my best friend just picked up a press... now we just have to get dies, powder, etc.

Anyone wanna load the brass I've got for me??  How much ya want to do it?  :D

It's probably Wolf-related,

BUT

does your AR have the 5-coil extractor spring and black o-ring and insert? And is it a 5.56 chamber or .223?

5.56 chamber

no idea about the spring, will have to check it.

My AR-15 has gone through a couple hundred rounds of Wolf with no issue. I would consider my AR still in the break in period too.

Found why the wolf had so many issues last Saturday, Wolf + Stock mags = Jam O'matic

Loading it into Pmags fixed 95% of the problems, out of 200 rounds I had a few feeding failures and 2 jammed cases (ammo seemed to have quite a few rounds that were light on powder) also had 1 Failure to Fire.

a lot of ar's have trouble with wolf that don't have chrome lined chambers.   my rock river will eat anything.  so do my buddy's m-16, etc.  i have also seen several great dpms guns w chrome barrels(not chrome chambers) that rip off bolt heads, extractors...fwiw
